  • Bonesey That is a good concern. I think I'll make some adjustments to the rainbow tile since yeah it should stand out more.

Thanks all for trying the game!

  • Since this is the first thing I released in the marketplace made with Construct 2 I'm gonna drop two itch.io promo codes here as thanks to the community. Maybe more?

  • Hey everyone! Finished a new game. It started out as a joke to make fun of Match 3 games but it turned out pretty great.

    For Windows, OSX, Android and

Blocks are rapidly falling onto the screen. Click or touch to match two of them anywhere on the screen to score points! Use rainbow blocks to help clear the screen. Don't let the screen fill up!

Its an arcade style game, very twitch and action oriented.

    Trailer:

Check it out here http://edibletoaster.itch.io/crush-ii or https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=comquantumbox.crushii and lemme know what you think!

  • Its nice, but I was hoping that we get a plugin so we have OS native scrollbars, so they'll look like the scrollbars from the current OS you're using...

But this will be useful for ingame scrollbars that need to be custom themed.

    Thanks

  • As of now, I see no way of adding a native scrollbar to your application or game. So I guess I'll request this...

It would be pretty useful in making certain simple applications, or level editors

  • Hey guys, I know it's been forever since I was here, but life was horrendously busy that I barely had time to do what I love most (web coding, game making).

Things are getting better, but enough about me...

Global Game Jam 2010 is almost upon us! January 29-31

What is it you may ask? Well, Jammers are given a set of constraints, and 48 hours to make a game. Simple enough. Cool part about this is that you get to meet people who are there, well, to do the very same thing.

First, everyone gets time to brainstorm an idea based on constraints, then you get to pitch your idea to the crowd. Whoever likes your idea, can join the team and more design goes on from there.

Teams generally help each other out, like at my location, there were only a few were able to help with music and audio, so we shared our skills.

Every location has a webcam to broadcast the madness, including the crappy music I rushed together which got hilarious comments from the people viewing the webcast...

Global Game Jam 2009 was the first ever, and was insanely fun. I highly recommend anyone interested in game design and such to go... Global, means Global. Chances are, there's a location near you, or if you have the means, you can start your own Jam location via the site.

I'm posting this here because I was discussing with a friend GGJ2010 and we realized we spent more time programming something in XNA than actually working on the game... So we both having used Construct before figured we'd use it. There are no restrictions on what you use to make a game, just that it was made during the 48 hours.

The top game (in polish and completeness) was recently released on the Android market as a free download: Lucid and I'll link to the Game Jam release. http://globalgamejam.org/games/lucid-0

My team's game was... well, I'll let you decide for yourself... (spacebar to pass through the initial cutscene) http://globalgamejam.org/games/materialism-98ms2

We had great ideas, but the fact that we tried to do 3d, and wasted so much time on coding, we didn't have time to make a game...

I'll be at the same NYU location this year, hopefully I'll see some of you guys participate in one of these... Just wave at the camera or something XD...

And have fun! Canada rickrolled everyone on their stream, and other places did funny things as well. Sure, the top teams may get a few tickets to go show off their game at GDC.

  • Wow... A lot has changed since the last time I was here...

Now that I have a bit more time, I should really get back into messing with these releases and making something... interesting...

  • Cool, nice fixes... Fortunately, I haven't been bothered by most of them, but some of the new features should be useful...

    Downloaded...

  • Wow, this sounds pretty nice...

This would be great in making different difficulty settings rather than the far too often seen "let's just increase enemy hit points and add more of them"

Reminds me of a Futurama quote during one of the What If... episodes... The Space Invaders scene where he said "Shoot where they are going to be, not where they are..."

  • [quote:ycaxw8eu]I hardly see how you can say that, given that I wouldn't have a clue about the first thing to do if I had to do it without that particle object. Maybe you could offer an "advanced" particle object to make it easy to do those things without detracting from the original particle object's specialties?

It's actually not hard at all - try spawning a load of sprites with a bullet movement from a point (use the accuracy for the cone of spray), and then you can make random adjustments to angle, speed or whatever. Still, I guess doing all that automatically would be useful. Maybe it could be expanded in future.

This is something I"m experimenting with so that this way, I can kinda have rain and other particle effects mess with the motion of physics objects... An automatic way of doing something like that would be great... but not too high priority IMO...

  • "An unexpected error occurred and the application was terminated. We apologise for the inconvenience. Please report this bug to the application vendor."

This popps up as soon as I try to run the app, and I hearby report it.

    Btw; that screenshot is bitchin.

I'm getting the same problem with the Final link... I probably should get to my laptop before I try these games...

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Aww, it looks cool, but I'm on a non PS machine right now... As soon as I get to my laptop, or old desktop I'll play this...

  • Nice update... I think the physics features will be very useful...

    Thanks!

  • Hey,

If anyone was wondering why I disappeared for a while well, it was getting my servers and such ready for this event... I realized that nobody posted about it here, but thankfully, Registration has extended to the 16th for those who want to participate...

tldr; http://sagexpo.org click on Official Topic

S.A.G.E. is a 10 year old online event where Sonic fangames were traditionally showcased in an expo like format. However, a few years ago, this has opened up to allow other fanmade creations, and completely original content.

Going by last years stats, we got around 5000+ unique visitors for the entire week of the event, so if you want to show your creation here, you'll get plenty of exposure...

We have a few special guests this year, some returning, some new.

    <img src="http://www.sagexpo.org/pr/guests.jpg">

    Also

Mike Pollock: Current voice of Dr. Robotnick (or Eggman)

They'll all have scheduled IRC chat times to answer your questions.

You can find out everything here http://sagexpo.org Be sure to check the official topic

Contests, Concerts, tourneys, games, more games, and fun! From the comfort of your own computer chair (or floor rug, if you're like me )

Demos are perfectly acceptable... Freewebs hosting is not... (my unofficial rule since those sites were knocked out first) So I'll be offering hosting for this event.

This would be a great time to get greater prerelease exposure to Construct. We have games made in MMF, TGF, Gamemaker, RPG Maker (look out for The White Box), C++, Blender, Motorola assembly, etc... There's even an open source game that I just happen to be hosting, but will keep quiet about until the show... Remember, demos are acceptable. No matter how short they are...

Just be sure to have something to show... Some featured Games this year:

    To copy myself:

    You get full FTP access...

Email or PM me for details... It's easier for me to catch the email, but I"ll be checking my pm box whenever

You'll get all the space you need. I can literally give 500MB per person if necessary... And you'll get a subdomain: yourchoiceofname.pnmhq.com and full FTP access...

So... templates so far - Keep in mind the first one is not complete (to my satisfaction anyway):

http://pnmhq.com/ssb/SAGE - This one features a dynamic gallery system. All you have to do is put your images in a folder and the booth takes care of the rest. This one is a bit more complicated to edit, but it's quite stylish...

There will be an alternate version using a coverflow like image gallery coming soon. Ask for that if you want it when you sign up for hosting...

http://pnmhq.com/ssb/SAGE2 - Simple, easy to edit template. Two color schemes currently: Deep Blue and Shadow the Hedgehog. But it's a very easy to edit template... Image gallery will be dynamic as well, and will also have a Coverflow gallery option.

All templates I create will be XHTML 1.0 Valid and CSS 2.1 Valid, and tested on IE, Opera, Safari, Firefox, and Konqueror.

If you have any questions or need any help with anything, Just send me a message... And even if you don't plan on showing anything, this should be a really fun event...

  • I return again...

Device name: ATI MOBILITY RADEON X1400

    Pixel shader: 3

    Estimated VRAM: 217 MB

    Motion blur: Yes

That's a weird VRAM number... But I know it's probably right... Let me just download something off the ATI Radeon... It has One Hundred... And Twenty Eight, One Hundred and Twenty Eight Megs... Of Double Data Rate Ram Memory, Dedicated to Nothing!!! And I can still run this...

It has up to 256 with the Hypermemory support...
