  • Well back after quite a while of... away-ness...

Time to see what happened since then...

  • Will do. Now that my laptop screen is finally repaired (I bought the parts and did it myself for like 60% of the cost) I can continue properly... I'll touch up the ini object, add the ACEs and maybe explain it more, and then jump to another...

  • No problem, I'll edit it up, as well as start on some new ones soon...

  • I'm thinking that this is a good place to start with helping in the documentation... And I'm sure most others will find this the easiest to write about... It would be great to have at least all the default plugins that Construct ships with documented.

Here's the question though... Should the focus be mainly on what they do or should we put in examples of good ways of using the objects?

This is what I started on a few days ago... Feel free to make it sound/look better...

  • that's pretty cool...

Going to be using it for something?

  • I figured it shouldn't have gotten slower... But it seems so only from the last build to this build...

I was starting back on the ball game when I noticed slow performance. Ran the old version and it was fine as far as speed went...

I'll let you know if I find anything... there might be a setting somewhere that was changed that I wasn't aware of... When I get my laptop back, I'll check it out...

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Strange... If you try to run it, it just fails... Or go into layout 2 (Adding the Player)And I barely did anything with it yet...

    Using 0.95.3...

    I hope it's just me...

  • That would be something good to have... It's a lot of work to make these clear and understandable but I'm sure it would be worth the effort...

I think video tutorials could help out a bit as well, or even just caps showing what was added step by step, using separate layouts to build up to the final product...

Learning the overall logic of a program is more important than knowing the actual programming language...

I'll try to whip up a simple one and see how you like this approach...

I'm sooo tempted to try to use the text to speech object in this, but it's usually hard to hear on default windows systems.

  • - [ADD] Directsound: can loop music now

    - [FIX] Platform movement hanging when moved inside of a solid

    Thanks!

Though, is it just me, or does the 3d stuff seem a tad slower performance wise?

  • From the looks of it, the HTML object was completely custom coded...

A lot of work goes into creating a good html rendering engine...

Maybe one day Construct could use Webkit or the likes... It will take time though, as Construct is still young and has few devs...

Or maybe I should start really learning how to write extensions for Construct... but what to start with?

  • Nice!

Just when I finally have time to mess with things again.

    Changelog sounds fun...

  • Eventually this will be extremely useful... MacOSX is gaining quite a bit of market share these days, and this would allow our games to be ported easily to OSX, Linux, and whatever else is out there... I noticed that many mobile devices support some form of OpenGL so that would be something to look into...

Now, the OpenGL3 spec will be really interesting once it's completed... It would allow "DirectX 10" effects and features to be usable on Windows XP and the other OS's. There are people who got Geforce 8 series cards on WinXP and this will really be cool for them... (most are waiting for Windows 7...)

  • Well, I've come across 2 problems after trying to continue work on a project...

The 3d objects display perfectly in the editor, but once I run the cap... They swap textures, or don't display properly at all... It's really, really weird...

In fact, try this: Open the platformer template, and add 2 seperate 3d boxes. On the second, change the texture of the front face. Run, and the first block will actually take the texture of one of the sprites...

I'll try to upload images and a sample cap soon, my connection is being dead slow for some reason... (probably this old router, since someone spilled water on the new one and I had to replace that one with this... >_< )

Also, I created a few event sheets, and then I realized that I should have made a seperate event sheet for the basic engine movement and each layout's event sheets include that one, and also any layout specific events...

So I made a new event sheet, with all the movement, and tried to assign the "engine core" event sheet to layout 2 to test.. However, Construct would I guess, ignore me and keep the dropdown blank... Anyone run into any problems assigning event sheets to different layouts?

  • I like this theme... It's nice...

Phpbb3 is awesome as well... It's snappier and cleaner IMO...

I hope you're liking the admin backend... It's soooo awesome...

  • WOW...

I was Just about to post about some of those problems when suddenly, Construct told me that there was an update...

Beautiful. Excellent work Ashley... You're the Man Now Dog!
