  • So The Next Penelope runs great - doesn't use platforming. All of the people complaining are using default platforming behavior. That's what I'm taking from this

Well you didnt read the OP. The thread has been hijacked somewhat i feel

  • For me the only option is to use Node-Webkit 10.5, otherwise using Chrome or NW.js stutters. Oddly enough Firefox is as smooth as silk.

Lets face it a single rotating sprite on a blank background running at 1280 x 720 wouldnt stress my digital clock let alone a Quad Core i7 clocked at 4.5Ghz with 32gb ram and an Nvidia 980gtx.

  • I dont think Scirra can do anything tbh. I am sure if they could they would.

Really it was just a statement about how i feel when i start a new project, then am reminded as soon as i run it that i cant (at the moment) produce a completed project.

Even if Google pulled their finger out and fixed Chrome tomorrow there is no saying that the following week it week it wouldnt be broken again. Although i am not in this situation myself at the moment i really do feel for the people who have games ready to go and have to wait for Google.

With all due respect C2 can run as smooth as butter but if i cant get anything out of it that runs smooth then there is a problem. I dont want to start another long debate about what Scirra should or shouldnt do as there are a number of those threads already running.

I have said before how much i like to use C2 but the constant output issues really do make me think whether to continue using it.

[quote:20xkqhmg]There is a saying - placing all ones eggs in one basket - that sums up C2. It is entirely reliant on other peoples technology in order to function.

    Very true.

  • Do it the other way around.

  • Well here we are another month on and still nothing has changed with the performance of C2 on the desktop. Exporting to Chrome still produces glitchy performance and the current NW.js is no better.

Try this. Create a simple sprite and add rotation. View in Chrome. Be depressed.

  • Or you could use Chipmunk Physics behavior and set the sleep threshold.

    thanks for the response.

I had thought about another object but thought i would check first. It wouldnt have been the first time i had missed something

Thanks for the example, very nice You can set the mass with an event if you want it infinite although i dont see any difference.

  • R0J0hound

Is there any way in which the shape of the object or the collision polygon can affect the center of mass. As it stands a pivot placed at the center of a pendulum shaped sprite does not cause the object to settle with the weight at the bottom as you would expect.

Edit: Or maybe allow the user to set the COM ?

  • Try Construct 3

  • You can put anything your character needs to interact with in a family, that way if he interacts with anything in that family you can set actions.

I would imagine you would be better applying physics impulse rather than a constant force in any direction. Check out the manual to see the differences.

  • You can check the angular velocity of your character. When he is jumping up it will be a negative number, when falling a positive number and when stood still it will be zero.

Another method would be to put a dummy object just above the ground and check to see if he is overlapping it. If he is then he can jump else he cant.

  • No you didnt miss it, its not there. Been asked for a few times but i guess there must be a reason it cant be done in the editor.

  • frozenen

Yep that simple. I am not quite sure how you go about having normal screensaver type settings. I suppose i could always create a settings page in the actual program itself.

Glad it works ok. i have tried it on a few different graphics cards and not had any issues.

  • Gotta read the signs

  • Just out of interest has anyone else had issues with this ?
