  • I'm hoping there is a quick fix for this...

    Whenever I close the Tilemap editor I get this error message and I have to restart CS3.

    This page is having a problem

    error code: STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION

    This happens both online and offline versions. Sprite editor works fine. I reinstalled still same problem. I know I should report this as a bug but I'm hoping there is quick fix I can implement myself. Please help, ty.

  • nevermind I just reinstalled CS3 everything is fine now

  • I just started a new project today and 30 minutes in I tried to run a preview and it doesn't load up. I get the please wait loading prompt. I can close it and retry which I did many times. If I try to run in debug mode my CS3 just closes.

    User loadout layout is checked

    The first layout has my first and only layout selected for it

    The only thing I can think of is every time I start CS3 I get this message

    The version of NW.js you are using is out of date (0.42.0), etc, etc

    I tried to update to 0.49 but for whatever reason the update doesn't install. I run the update, it appears it's been installed but it never updates to the newer version. I don't know if this is the culprit for my problem. I was always able to preview my projects even with the out of date NW.js months ago but now for whatever reason I can't. I hope you guys can help out. Thank you.

  • sure why not you got nothing to lose. CS3 is a very capable easy to understand engine and if you for some reason decide CS3 doesn't give you what you really want out of a game engine then move on, no harm. The 1 year subscription is affordable and it's worth finding out if the CS3 engine will satisfy you. I'm confident it will since especially this will be you're rather new to personal game dev.

  • that explains it, thank you. i was thinking there was no way C3 thought it would be a good idea to remove local saving, lol. they didn't have a choice. I hope you guys can fix this and bring it back soon.

  • as a customer I got to say IMO it's a very bad idea. I can't fathom why in the world would C3 purposely remove such a fundamental feature to save your work in your own computer. I imagine most C3 owners want to be able to save their work in their own computers. Please bring it back.

  • Did C3 just lose it's feature to be able to save projects in your own computer???

    I came back to C3 after months away and I started a new project to find out I can't even save it to my own computer. I have to rely on cloud computing. Is this a feature or is something wrong with my copy of C3?

    Also I cant seem to update nw.js. I updated several times and each time my C3 doesn't recognize the update and prompts me to update. What to do?

  • My C3 tells me I need to update the nw.js and so I did. I downloaded the SDK version for Windows 10 64bit. I extracted the folder and ran nw.exe and I suppose it updated. But every time I run C3 it gives me the update prompt as if nw.js didn't update at all. I have no idea if it updated or not after running the nw.exe. It gives me a window and in the window it says

    nw.js v0.49.0

    Node v14.12.0

    Chromium 86.0.4240.75

    Well I don't know what's happening here. I'm weary of starting a new project while C3 is telling me I need to update nw.js How do I move forward from here. Thank you.

  • thank you for replying and I do think I'll make the switch. I only developed simple little games and CS2 did the job but I want to be more ambitious and it looks like CS3 is a worthwhile upgrade.

  • I'm a long time Construct 2 user and I stayed with CS2 because of my familiarity with it and CS3 didn't really offer anything I needed and also not to mention I have purchased my personal license long ago.

    CS3 now has move to in event and animation timeline in layout. With these additions is it now worth it to upgrade to CS3 and justify abandoning my CS2 license and purchase my SC3 prescription plan? Also what about performance are there noticeable improvements?

  • The game is broken when I run it preview but works fine when I run it in debugger with breakpoint and steps and I'm totally baffled by this.

    I look at the event sheet and I swear everything should work properly but doesn't when I preview the game. When I run it in the debugger it works as it should but I do have to type in the proper values for the 2 variables. When I run the debugger in real time without the breakpoints for some reason one of the variables doesn't update not until I have to click in and out of some layers through mouse clicks in the game menu's. It should work by clicking on the game button objects but it doesn't update the global variables and I see nothing in the event sheet that can explain it. I'm having trust issues with Construct 2. How do I know if it's something I'm doing wrong or if Construct 2 has some kind of bug messing with my results?

    Is there a better way for me to debug my game? I like the breakpoints but the game can't run in real time, I can't interact with the game to see what events get triggered and what events don't. I have to type in the variable values instead of letting the game run while playing it. Is there a way I can see in real time the event sheet working while playing the game? I need to know the workflow because something is not right and I have no idea what it could be.

  • The player in my game is a vehicle that drives similar to a car which is why I used the car behavior. I made several buttons to select different speeds. I press the button and the vehicle goes to the speed I put in the event instantly instead of accelerating to the speed. The event action ignores the acceleration speed in the properties window of the vehicle. If I use the arrow keys the vehicle accelerates properly.

    How do I tell the player vehicle to accelerate to the set speed over time with the press of a button? I tried searching for this in the forums and found things similar to my problem but not the same. I'm new here so please forgive me I'm not trying to be lazy, lol.
