  • a merry Christmas to everyone

  • i do understand what you mean i am also already using the udk for my 3D game needs

i did not mean they should put in al the stuff Julmust said only something like changing textures and models on runtime not only in the editor

i hope they will just continue to create a awsome 2D engine with a little 3D touch

  • What about extra features for these objects.

    • Change textures through event editor
    • Option editing opacity via the event editor.
    • Change model using event editor. (Might cause FPS issues?)
    • Support animation for 3D Object plugin.

Just a few idea I had.

    i had the same idea's

i would love to see that you can load 3D objects and textures on runtime with the 3D object

then i can finish my model viewer

i do understand construct will not be made for real 3D games i just like to experiment with them in 2D scene's

i do not know about fps issues i can load a model with more than 2000 polys with no problems

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • wow it looks really good lord_cpx

  • i have been trying the 3D object for some time now and i have great results

my first try worked but i had to scale it down to 0.002 to see it normally

and i put a simple color on it and it looked really ugly and flat because it had no lighting

my model is a 3Ds file by the way

so i made a other model of a security camera(well part of it ), unwrapped it and created a(not so good) texture and used a "ambient occlusion map" you can also call it "texture baking" to bake the lighting into the unwrapped texture and that i put in construct with great results

even without realtime lighting it looks really good

i made it so you can rotate the object left and right so its almost a 3D model viewer

if some of you want i can (probably) make a tutorial on getting the model and texture in construct

i think with texture baking for lighting and shadows you can create great scenes in construct for your 3D(2.5D) games or apps even when construct is not really made for 3D

    oh and a question:

is it possible to load a texture or model in runtime??

  • well this is mine

and a second one to be sure:P

  • unity3D might be a little easier than UDK (and you can play the games in a webbrowser )

but the UDK is not as hard as you might think

I started using the UDK about a week ago and i already learnt a lot

    and here is my teacher

    http://www.fileshack.com/file.x/15926/U ... orial+Pack

in this huge download you will get 171 video tutorials learning you the basics of the UDK

from the interface, level design, cinematics and more

    to a complete 3D top-down game

its a little more than 21 hours of video and its really easy to follow

it might sound like a lot but you are learning a engine so you must invest some time in it

  • i have been working on a text based hacker game

it is comming around pretty nicely

it does have its fair share of problems:P

    (and lack of time)

ohh and i did not use python:) just events:P

  • Yea, I've read that too but I was not too sure about it.

It'd be great if someone participates on this and win. That would be plain epic.

and it would be great advertisement

  • you guys should really sue them!!!

    thats my opinion!

you cant let them sell YOUR work thats just terrible

and if that does not work than take matters in your own HANDS!!! just hack their websites or their bank accounts or something....(no just kidding )

  • i tried this a long time ago and it does work!

that was about a year ago

and it worked in a web browser!

i would be skeptical too but i already tried it

on the website of 3D engine "3Drad" they use the same software for some demo's

so i think osakit is safe and it worked for me!

  • ahhh death rally, i loved that game:P and even still have it

it turned freeware a while ago

i would love to see a remake of raptor: call of shadows or big red racing

both fun to play together with someone

    ahh and 1nsane

  • thank you very much!!

i have been trying things for over a day now!!

i came up with this idea to add lines to a text object:

    set text
    textfile.Text & NewLine & "please wait a moment..."[/code:v9y4o77a]

textfile is the name of the text object
    is this a correct method??

if someone has a better solution please tell me
oh and one other little thing:
can i make the background of the edit box transparant and change the text colour??
  • hi everyone

i have run across a little problem but i cant find a solution so id like to ask for help here

    my problem:

i have a text object in my scene with some text in it

there is also a edit box in the scene where players can type stuff in

i know how i can send the text from the edit box to the text object so that it replaces the old text

or how to use a event to change the text.

    and that is the problem.

i dont want the text typed in the edit box to override the text in the text object but i want to Add it to the text object without overriding the old text so it gets below the already existing tekst

and i would like to edit multiple lines and i just cant figure out how.

i know you can do that if you double click the text object but you cant edit it like that in the event window.

    here is a example:

    text object = "hello everyone"

    edit box object = "hello"

    now i get

    text object = "hello"

    but i want

    text object =

    "hello everyone"

    "hello"

im sorry if i am a little vague

    my internship depends on it:P

if i get the internship i will be under a non disclosure contract so i cant talk about my project now

i hope someone can help me:)

  • I haven't seen it but I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. I mean, come on... The Terminator, T2, Aliens... it's not like James Cameron is a dumbass. Those are three of the best scifi movies of all time. The dude knows how to make a movie.

And I don't see what's wrong with the trailer. No it doesn't look like the greatest story ever told, but it also doesn't look like it comes anywhere near to deserving the inordinate amount of backlash you see all over the internet.

Anyway, it's got spaceships and big robots fighting giant aliens on a planet with floating islands and... wait, why the hell wouldn't I want to see this movie? Oh yeah, because Internet said it was bad

well people say gaming is bad do you stop gaming then:P:P

im going to see this movie soon (in 3D ofcourse!!!)
