That looks sweet, seriously. Sometimes keeping things simple is the best approach.

Is it just me, or do those mushroom baddies look....well...let's just say the flesh tones on the stem, a mushroom head and round shapes at the base of the stem kinda contribute to an overall "not for the kiddies" look. I did get a good LOL from it!

And overall, looks like a nice project!

My current project in very early stages of development - It's gonna be a fighting game with cartoonish characters (barely inspired in artwork from Danny Phantom's animated series). Currently working on first (and probably main) character, the unnamed paperboy:
