  • Hi guys,

I think it would be beneficial for people who may interested in paid work, in the various areas they feel skilled in... to have a list of everyone and their skills. I hope this will end up being like a master list of everyone and what they can do.

If you feel so inclined, leave your preferred method of contact here as well as a list of your skills/abilities and where possible some examples of your work.

Think of this like, a reverse advertising resume. You list your abilities here, and someone may head hunt you instead of you having to directly apply for the job.

    So here goes me;

    ---------------------------------------------------------

I think something like this, would be valuable. :)

Feel free to modify my "template" to suit what you would like others to know. As you can see I am impatient, but for all the right reasons ;)

Look forward to seeing what some skills others may possess too!

  • It falls under the common creative laws licensing for Australia, at least. It may vary from country to country... but this is exactly how things like a parody works where an artist can take a tune and rhythm directly from a popular artist, change the lyrics (there's your 20%+) and have zero commitment to the original creator or it's copyright holders.

Do some reading on "Creative Commons". While the 20% may or may not be accurate (I know it's roughly there-abouts), if you change something enough then it no longer considered being in it's original state (even though it may still be instantly recognisable) you can get away with it.

An example in this particular case might be adding 7 engines from a 747 jumbo, and making the main hull of the Enterprise slightly oval shaped instead of circular. Change a few colours, add some pin striping and a small wing on the top... and there you have it. While it will look nothing like the original Enterprise, certain familiarities people have with Star Trek may still make it instantly recognisable AS the Enterprise even though it looks vastly different.

  • There is a loop hole essentially that, on the grounds you are not profiting from the works themselves, if you change the images by at least 20% (by adding or modifying with original content) you can claim enough artistic merit and intellectual property of your own, that they can't really DO anything.

In cases of fan made games, most copyright holders don't care.

On that same note, you can also go with the "fair and acceptable use policy" or if you are making a parody... it's also perfectly fine.

  • Your question is very broad, and can vary wildly depending exactly what you want to do?

What part of the AI are you talking about? The path finding? The combat system where your troops may flee if they are grossly outnumbered?

If you are more specific then you will probably get the answer(s) you are looking for.

In short, C2 can make any kind of AI, depending on how long you want to spend working on it, and how skilled you are at making AI. The software will not limit you in any way.

  • Yeah, this looks rad. My only suggestion is to get rid of the tiny window and make it bigger. I always hate games that have a tiny window, and can't be full screened. Just my personal gripe. ;)

Graphics look outstanding. Can't wait to see the boss in action.

Spriter would be a great tool to use for the boss, especially :D

  • Physics objects simply destroy phones. I think most phones CPU is simply not powerful enough. The only phone I have seen that does a half decent job of it, is an iPhone 4 and 4S. Even the iPad 2 gets terrible FPS, and most android phones totally crap themselves. My friends Galaxy S2 completely froze after getting so hot it felt like the battery was about to explode, while running a fairly mild physics simulation with half a dozen colliding objects.

Hand held devices are simply not made to deal with something as hardcore as physics, just yet. Give it a few years (for better hardware) or wait for some major HTML5 improvements (like WebGL support) on phones.

  • I'm not sure what you mean when you say "Graduate" since no courses in HTML5 exist yet here in Australia, at least.

I think most people on these boards will know far more than any "graduate" anyway. There is no better professional than a self-taught hobbyist. :)

Good luck in finding your man (or woman) ;)

  • Are you using a WebGl based browser? Did you enable WebGl? What are your system specs? Which browser are yo using, and what version is it?

Remember that all of these things will matter.

HTML5 is still in it's infant stages, and having loads of objects (especially if they are high resolution, and NOT power of 2 in size...) will cause poor performance on anything less than a spectacular computer rig.

    More information is required.

I looked at your image... looks like a cool circly thing. Not sure again, what I am looking at or what it is supposed to represent.

With more information, perhaps a better and more precise answer can be given.
