  • When you import sound, Construct will automatically convert it to a couple of formats (or at least attempt to).

Can Construct import video the same way? I'd like to take advantage of webM's small size wherever possible.

If not, will it be able to do this in the future?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Solid advice, thanks; I'll implement it right away.

Still, it doesn't answer my question. I'd like to know how to tell whether this statement (and similar) affect one or all instances, and how to make sure I can do whichever I need.

  • I just realized, if I have one of these enemies show up, will it inadvertently heal all other instances with this command?

How can I tell if I'm affecting one or all instances of something, and how can I make sure I'm affecting one- or all instances of something?

That's a relief. It'd seem like a pretty major oversight if we couldn't make a game from an isometric perspective where sprites could be drawn going in front of and behind each other dynamically.

Hmm, if "Sort Z Order" only works for instances of one particular sprite, then I guess instead of using a Family of NPCs, monsters, and town objects, I'll have to turn all characters, buildings, and other such things into a single sprite object with different animations, or frames of animation to identify them.

Is this really the easiest solution?

Thanks for the quick responses. I hope this can help me efficiently make something like the classic RPG towns of old.

I feel like I'm overlooking a basic feature of Construct 2, but I can't seem to find the info anywhere on this.

Is there a way to set the Z Order of sprites on a layer relative to their Y position? I'm trying to have an isometric game where humanoid sprites can walk in front of and behind each other

  • Currently, I have about 30 more games to buy on my Wii U before I'm ready to move onto a new system, including some launch games I missed (got Darksiders through the Humble Bundle and it's so much more awesome than the so called "Death-initive" editions they released later, thanks to the GamePad integration). So yeah, if you wanna make a console game, make it for the Wii U (and use the GamePad! )

Just drag the gif and drop it onto the Layout. C2 will create an animated sprite from the gif.

This ought to be in the manual somewhere. I'd been scouring the net for a way to convert a GIF to a spritesheet or sequential images so I could import them into C2 via the usual methods.

  • Searches haven't been behaving properly lately. Upon examination, it looks like my browser is automatically blocking the search-scripts from running because the encryption on scirra.com is out of date.

"Your connection to http://www.scirra.com is encrypted using an obsolete cipher suite. Further, this page includes other resources which are not secure. These resources can be viewed by others while in transit, and can be modified by an attacker to change the behaviour of this page."

    How long until a fix?
