  • Just downloaded the plugin and it works really good, but I was wondering is there anyway to make more then one path for an object? I want to use this in create a curved path for a bird that flies from tree to tree and since the trees are going to placed differently throughout a level, I'm going to need a different path regularly.

  • Today I decided to create my first mock up level for my game and am doing it on a separate layout. I was wondering that if I just copy and paste the objects onto a separate layout (or clone the layout) would Construct recognize it as the same object? I tried changing settings of an object in one layout but they didn't change in the other, leading me to believe that it's just creating a copy of the object and not an instance so I'm wondering is there anyway to make it an instance without being global? Is this the correct way to create a multilevel game or am I approaching it wrong?

I'm sorry if this made little sense I'm in a rush. I'll try to provide more information later if needed.

  • Excuse my ignorance, but could you explain what a 'State Machine' is? I've seen it mentioned before but never understood what it was and the advantages it brings to the table. Maybe an example *.cap will help?

  • I was thinking of trying to implement something like this earlier in my game as I also didn't like it always scrolling... I failed miserably, so it's nice your considering to add it in your plugin Linkman!

  • I for one welcome this suggestion.

(you want to change the default name from 'Application 1' to e.g 'New Game' right?)

  • This is a great request and all which I'd personally like to see, but shouldn't this really be on the 'Feature requests' board?

  • Congratulations Linkman2004! I guess with the approaching official release of Construct it would be wise to have sufficient moderators who could monitor the inevitable new flock of members.

  • does your avatar 'sr' stand for shady records?

    My initials

  • It's not bad Shady, but it looks like you already have some shadows baked into your image so it kinda defeats the purpose.

Also, bonus for your user name being on topic

Actually those shadows are sprites which I forgot to remove before compiling. I was trying to adapt them based on where the light is, but failed miserably...

By the way, my user name is my real life name!

  • earlier in this thread davo posted his exe's with it. it does what the video does, so your lightsource can go behind objects

I thought it was included in the latest 99.82 version of construct

So it's already built in? Sweet. I'll be sure to check it out in the morning (since it's bloody 2:30am here in Australia...)

  • that's looks great, Shady.

are you planning to upgrade it now with the new bumpmapping3d effect?

I've never heard of bumpmapping3d, so if you can point my towards where I can download the effect it'll be great. About upgrading, I'll try if it isn't too much of a hassle, but this was more a 'proof of concept' then anything else. Maybe I'll incorporate it in a next game, since it doesn't fit in my current one at all.

  • How did I miss the first post on this thread, I'll never know.

I'm floored. It's beautiful. Yes, blows 3D out of the water for a certain kind of game.

Please. PLEASE. Keep THIS in mind for Construct 2 as well =)

    shader graph editor? >_<

Using your plugin (height map plus) I was able to create something that looks semi decent. Nowhere near the level of what was posted by it does create a nice 3D effect, similar to David's.

  • I've been ignoring these tutorials ever since they broke from that one version way back and little did I know that they actually work now... the intermediate AI lesson is just what I need to finally get my enemies to move around as intended and it's much simpler than my crappy method (involving RTS and platforming).

Thanks Deadeye for these incredible tutorials

  • Thank you! It worked wonderfully

  • I just encountered an issue using the 'Object Overlaps Point' command where it seems to only detect an overlap with only one instance of a sprite instead of all. I replicated the bug and posted the cap where I explain it in more detail. I'm pretty adamant the command isn't working as intended, but I may be overlooking something very simple and approaching it incorrectly.

I'll also upload it to the bug tracker shortly.
