  • Looks more 2D. Although it does need to have some words to say Construct.

p.s. Didn't realize you didn't know about Demotivators..sorry! Here is a link for your viewing pleasure. They are quite entertaining.

  • LOL, kinda like saying you can imagine 3D but you will probably never be able to build it. :-)

Although we all know Construct can make 3D (Quazi's thumbwars) its insanely difficult...it kinda struck me as odd although the 3D box with Cog is on point.

  • Mind if I PM you about some of the other bugs I encountered later in the week?

No problem. Feel free to send me a PM.

  • Looks very cool, but don't you think Google have gone over the top here?

Yeah, it is definitely over the top...I think Google is doing it more for the wow factor. Not sure how secure it will end up being.

  • Did you try an event to set it to the front on start of layout?

Is the door and mineshaft on different layers?

  • Very interesting feature in the latest chrome. Supports running C/C++ code natively in the browser for Google Chrome!

    code.google.com/chrome/nativeclient

Not sure if Construct 2 would support this somehow via plugin, but it sounds pretty darn cool.

  • This is really cool! I like the customization of figures, names attached to players, and support for many characters. Nicely done!!

On the ":" bug...it completely skipped my mind that that character is so common. And it would cause a lot of confusion for users why their smileys weren't going through so I'll add it to my TODO list to fix. I can add a code to chat messages so they are not parsed for the ":" character. It shouldn't break any existing projects either.

  • evgy: I have no clue what the gameplay is like, but wow those graphics look really awesome!

  • I dunno. Looks like a cashgrab to me.

My thought as well when I read the Table of Contents. It would be nice if they had a "look inside this book" feature like Amazon, but from what they posted it sounds pretty basic.

  • I think a book would be great for Construct. I'd actually considered making one in the past. The way I would have sold them was to schools and emphasized the Python and C++ programming aspects as a good intro into programming while being a way to make learning more fun. You learn Python and C++ quickly and at the same time make cool games. There is a lot that a book could teach that isn't included on the forums, but at the same time there is a lot on the forums that covers what Construct does.

I decided I didn't have the time for such a big commitment, but definitely welcome anybody that writes a book.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Tokinsom - The default behavior for a client that can't connect to a server is to exit. I guess I should change that with a messagebox or something else to say couldn't connect. So most likely the IP address you are using is not the actual IP you need. For example, the IP that the server displays is the computer IP....the IP you actually need is the router IP that you enabled port forwarding. You want your clients to connect to the router which then forwards traffic to your computer. If that isn't it please let me know!

On the server side...can you post a screenshot of the crash? I haven't been able to duplicate a crash on my end.

thoughtzone Thanks! I do plan on posting a tut once I know I don't plan to make major changes. For now the README is pretty detailed so if you don't find anything you need in it please let me know!

  • The scope/size of the game is impressive! Happy to see folks making big games with Construct..can't wait to try it (especially ordering drinks and walking around town ;-)

  • Construct is the kit! <img src="smileys/smiley17.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

All kidding aside... your best bet is to use a tutorial or example .cap for the game you are interested in and go from there. Some folks are making game building frameworks for various types of games in Construct so you can always asked for a specific type. However, they wont quite be like the kits on that site.

  • I really like the look of this game. Kinda a dark atmosphere with the black monsters. Looks promising!

  • What version of Prof UIS is required to build the full version of Construct?
