  • Hey Sparkfeather!

Yeah, sounds like you ran into the bug that JayJay found. It seems to be triggered by laggy connections (as I haven't heard about it happening over a LAN). I believe I have a fix, but haven't fully implemented it yet. It involves the server handing out ID #'s instead of the clients sending who they are.

Until then might I suggest you try using Hamachi? secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi

It is free and sets up a virtual LAN. It might reduce lag enough for allowing use over internet until I implement a fix. Try the demo as-is with Hamachi and see if it works (shouldn't have to modify anything).

Thanks for trying the plugin out!

  • I actually voted for yours because all the others were too easy/didn't hold my attention. But I know what you mean. With the short timeframe I ended up making my game ridiculously hard apparently and everybody was getting blown up without exploring the universe. Even though I could play for minutes pretty easily.

With a couple months some of these games could be brilliant!

  • MoonShield is indeed a gem. When I first played it I was just crashing asteroids into moons thinking "this is stupid". Then I realized your supposed to alter the course of the asteroids with the moons and it got a lot more fun!!! :-)

  • newt I really liked Radeius for its uniqueness/getting my interest. It was the best out of this group for me from that respect. Problem I had with it was I just sucked at it. Kept getting killed over and over again!!

I think the easier games fared better in the ratings.

  • Folks... decided to just post source to screenshot plugin here as I don't think I'll have time to work on this for next few months. It is not polished for release so there is probably all sorts of nasty programming practices. If you do make any updates/fixes..please post updated plugin and sources!

  • > I think asking for EXE exporter it's too early for C2

Yeah, second this. Would rather see C2 get families, branching, better system expressions (tokenizing strings), etc.

An official exe is clearly superior to a wrapper. The only point of the wrapper to me is the novelty of trying something new, plus it has its places for a stopgap until an official exe exporter arrives. For the wrapper to be done right, would need a way to customize the index.html file before wrapping otherwise you end up with a weird looking game screen (for example space game with white border doesn't look good). Still, I'd rather have more cool features in C2 than a wrapper right now.

  • I think an official .exe wrapper using Awesomium would be moderately easy. Combined with something like UPX you could support a single exe binary for Linux, Windows, and Mac exports right off the bat.. Plus it is based on Chrome so would have good performance, sound compatibility, etc.

I've been wanted to make a wrapper generator which takes a C2 folder and generates a .exe but just too busy!! :-(

  • Hey, what was the entry where you play the space aliens flying saucer sucking up cows, and people and trying to avoid getting shot by the farmers. I played it once then now can't find it again!! Really fun game.

  • Noga - Thanks! It is really interesting getting people's view on the game and how they play it. There are actually planets, but I have it random so they might not show up as frequently as they should.

I'll take a few days tweak some more values to make it easier, and new content so the space isn't as sparse, and then once I get it done I'll put up a new post.

  • Instant - I'll shoot you a PM tonight. It isn't too complex source so you may be able to add to it.

I might be able to make updates this weekend.

  • - Thanks for commenting on my entry!

Since I have little chance in winnning a prize at this point I've updated my entry to make it easier. Please give it a chance at let me know what you think!

Also, would welcome any other critique on what would make it better.

Once I get more time I'll comment on some more games...really enjoyed several others here. :-)

  • Kastas

Trashoid Attack was a brilliant graphical work. The most polished game in the competition in my opinion and the only one I played to completion. Really shows off what you can do in Construct 2. Only negative was "Shift" kept on bringing up my "sticky keys" menu.

I was totally blown away by the overall quality/variety of the games in the compo. Good luck all!

  • Similar results to untune. On the first one:

First time I ran it 4 pink ponies in center and 0's in all four corners. All subsequent times I run it I get -3422577664 in corners and blank in center.

Second one works fine..see the pink pony roll up and down with mouse wheel.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • I second awesomium. It is fast, moderately lightweight (adds about 10-15mb but better than installing a browser), and you can pack your game into a single binary (using something like what Pode mentioned) or Cameyo.

The other cool thing about awesomium is you can create Mac, Linux, and Windows binaries just by wrapping with a separate SDK.
