  • I've tried twenty or so games using up-and-right, but my average score was only about 350, whereas another ten games down-and-right averaged about 550, which could indicate that I haven't developed the skill to use U-a-R effectively. I'd love to see recorded footage of you playing, like watching advanced players in Starcraft or Team Fortress.

  • Nice thought, Adds some life to the scene.

  • I think for the time being, to help Ashley and Tom identify and fix errors that crop up, we should make note of our badge counts (mine was 4/8/24, but I lost the Religious Updater, so I'm 3/8/24), because it's going to be much easier for us to each remember our own data, than for them to try to audit several thousand users.

  • RattyRat,

At the moment, no, but you WILL be notified if someone uses the "Reply" button adjacent to your post, like I did just now in my response to you. You'll receive an alert by your username, in the upper-right corner of the screen.

  • My primary strategy is down-right, but I'll play a couple dozen games focusing up-right tonight and share any observations.

  • So, the path does get obstructed sometimes. In fact this is virtually only way to lose, when you wind up in a pit or a dead end and have to backtrack into the lava or wait to die.

mentioned in Go Faster's arcade comments that you can figure out when a dead end is coming.

What tips and tricks have you all learned to either detect dead ends/pits or otherwise improve your play?

  • Maybe it's just some people, then. I downloaded both 126's, but the badge disappeared sometime between 7 o'clock and about midnight Scirra-time.

  • Tom, Ashley,

The update that *just* happened knocked out my Religious Updater Badge. If you can check, you'll see I had an unbroken streak starting around release 99, and I only broke it two releases ago to reset the counter (which is why I'm now at two in a row). Maybe other people accidentally lost theirs, too?

    Thanks!

  • LOL, it's always funny when you make a post and it happens to be the first one on a new page. It looks so lonely, like where'd everyone go!

  • Total confidence in the overhaul. =)

I'm looking forward to the My Profile page having the links to Edit Profile / Reputation / Badges, like the Reputation and Badges pages do (and having the improved site appearance), and I'm really looking forward to the crazy erroneous badge awards being fixed.

  • Tom, cklester, I might not have been specific enough. There's a discussion forum in the Construct Classic forum section where people can (but typical don't) request tutorials, have more in-depth conversations about existing tutorials, announce work on new tutorials to solicit input, etc. Right now, if you want to do any of those, there's no truly appropriate forum. General/Tools-Resources or General/General-Game-Design are probably the closest.

I'm not at all suggesting putting tutorials themselves in the forum.

  • I didn't notice fluctuations to my rep today, but I did, for example, when the major rebalancing happened, because site comments were reduced from 5 to 2, so I lost about 100 just from that.

If you check your rep page and the badge page, maybe you'll see that certain activities have different rep values than you recall, which might explain it.

  • ? I'm not sure I understand, That's the page for published tutorials, not a forum.

  • Should we start a tutorials forum for Construct 2, since the only one we have is for Construct Classic and rarely used, or is there just not a need for a current forum just for tutorials?

  • You're welcome!
