  My first thought was to use sprites.

  so you would have your sprite created , wait 1 second, next sprite created...

  Sounds like event 3 is constantly running - are you altering the arrays (level1) instance variable (waveactive ?) to prevent it ?

  Just thought the string of comments and relevant scores could always be passed to the function as parameters...

  score<50 text="Mostly Harmless"

  score<10 text"something witty"

  score<5 text="quite derogatory"

  There was a similar question recently that would be worth reading through (here).

  If you are doing what I think then I would add an instance variable to everything (eg called "ivIAmOnLayer" ?) which could be checked and appropriate action taken ?

  At a university - I guess they have an art department ? Surely* there is some help to be found there ?

  Look in this forums resources - where some talented artist hang out.

  Main thing is don't let the artwork stop the game being developed - sprites "holders" can always be updated/changed.

  Also look here on the forum for "Spriter"/Brahmonkey if you want to animate.
