  • Hi, I am looking for a free texture maker. If you know of any please share them.

    Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU T4200 2.00GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.0GHz

    Memory:

    3002MB RAM

    Hard Drive:

    308 GB

    Video Card:

Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family

  • i have been messing around with blender... though i find its not as straight forward as i was hoping...

i still haven't looked at Shiva bit i plan on looking right after this post...

and i do plan on learning a language to do this writing engines from scratch but i want to start with a WYSIWYG first

What is shiva? Can you provide a link?

And yes, i been hearing blender has a high learning curve, but once you master the interface it's pretty funand easy to use ;D

  • I know it doesn't sound interesting and original, since anyone could make it. This is my first time using construct, and it is VERY fun to use. I decided to make this as my first project in Construct. It helped me learn much about construct and it was simple to make, a great app to make for me since I am a beginner to construct. Doing part of the top down shooter tutorial helped me learn how to setup events, and thanks to Newt who helped me with my save/load problem

Anyways I made this because one, I like learning about software by just diving right in and experimenting. Also, for my pass time I loved playing with the text to speech software installed in computers already, access via control panel. Now that I got vista I have no idea where the Text 2 speech stuff is, so I made this software just so I can play with it

Anyways, you can save/load text files. And when you load text files, it will be added to a list, where you can select different loaded text files. You can even have the option to auto play when and item in the list is selected.

    Screenie & Download:

    Uninspiring Screen shot of it

  • "On file dialog OK" should be separate events, and you need to separate your calls to the dialog box somehow. You could either add another instance of the common dialog box, or us a private variable to differentiate.

    omg thank you!

  • The "I heard it sucks" comes from reading actual accounts of issues from users on the Blender forum. Mainly problems with really slow/wonky collision detection, and unresponsive controls. But that was a while ago, if it's been updated since then that's cool.

Ah I see. I never really experienced collision problems. But those wonky collision problems could be cause by many other problems, mainly hardware, old version of blender, too many hi polys etc.

  • I don't know of any.

Actually, I believe Blender has a game engine that uses drag & drop nodes, but A) I've never used it so I don't know what it's like, and B) I've heard their game engine sucks.

3D engines generally require coding knowledge. Usually C# or C++. If you're willing to learn a language then check out XNA or Unity.

You shouldn't listen to whoever is telling you the engine sucks unless you tried it for yourself. I use blender and the game is pretty good and plus it's been updated now.

Have you seen the yo frankie open source game project?

    http://yofrankie.org/

Even without coding you can make games. I'm making a shooter on it now.

But with yofrankie! it looks like blender's game engine is really opening up.

There are even promising game projects posted at blenderartists.org forum.

I never seen anyone say it sucks other than here just now lol. I can only assume they used an old version, had a hard time making a game themselves or had some bugs.

  • I wish to play but the exe has reached its download limit and the cap file can't seem to find a headcop wav.

  • Hi, I'm quite new to construct and I am just experimenting with it. Right now I am just making a text2speech I have an option to load a text file and save the entered text into a text. Hitting cancel on either one is fine, but when i go to select a file and click open, the open dialog shows up again. Then if i hit cancel, it activates my saving to text event. When i save a file, it saves but re opens the save as dialog. i hit cancel then it goes back to the open file event, then back to save as and finally cancelling. If you toggle off the saving event, the loading will load the file, even if u open and then cancel the open dialog that reopened.

    if u need the cap:
