  • You can get free sites, like at weebly, and place google adsense on your pages, but if you do it that way they get half of your ad revenue. It's better to find a cheap web hosting and pay for your own site. After you get it up and running and have some games on the pages, put google adsense ad's on the pages and then go to game forums and post links to your game(s). (don't spam or flood). When people come to your site you'll get paid either when they click an ad or by how many visits the page with the ad gets. Just do NOT click the ad's yourself or google will ban you from using adsense. Also, do not get a bunch of friends to go clicking ad's because they can figure out if you are trying to cheat, and they will ban you. They aren't very lenient when it comes to your account.

If you use yahoo web hosting you can use their sitebuilder, which I like. You can use iFrames to add your game to your webpages. I know you might not understand anything I'm telling you, so you'll have to do some research on web hosting and google adsense.

As a matter of fact, I might just make a video on how to use sitebuilder to add games to your yahoo site in case anyone wants to do it that way.

Edit: Well, I just tried to make a video but it seems my computer is too slow, so I can't make a video.

  • I keep seeing posts about making multi-player games. Do they mean games where people are all playing on the same computer, or do they mean games that can be played online by multiple users in different areas? example: playing cards online, one player is in new york, another player is in paris, etc.

If it's the latter, how would you make a game like that, or is it too complicated for a novice to learn?

  • I've seen this too, but if you run the game those spaces don't show.

  • Ok, so what do I do with the txt file? My copy of construct2 will still say free edition and have the link to the site in every index.html file when I create a game.

  • I have another question. If I were to purchase it right now, would I get an instant download or would I have to wait a few hours or days to get it?

    Thanks

  • Ok, thank you.

  • If I purchase Construct2, do I get free upgrades when they come out, or would I have to pay extra?

Also, there is a link that you aren't allowed to remove in the html file when you create a game with the free version. If I purchase this program, will I have to remove the link every time I create a game or will I get a different version of Construct 2 that doesn't include the link in the html file? (As opposed to the free version)

  • As easy as this !

After he said about the textbox in the first reply, I tried it and figured it out. lol. Thanks anyway. That's what I like about contruct2, after you learn a few things, other things aren't too hard to figure out, although I wouldn't have figured it out if he wouldn't have mentioned the text box. I'm using the free version right now, but when I get a few extra bucks to spend I'll be purchasing it.

  • Well, lol, I haven't messed with variables for a few years. I used to use another program to make simple room escape games, but the program was too buggy. I just tried something. I made a text box, then used the "compare text." I'll try it and see if I did it right before I finish this reply...... ok, yes, it works. Thanks :)

  • I did a search and found nothing about this. Perhaps I didn't type in the correct words. Is there a way to make a password box, so that someone would have to type in a word or number sequence to move on in the game?

  • Ugh, I deleted my post before I realized that someone replied. You must have replied just as I was deleting. lol.

I think I figured it out. When adding a new event, I didn't notice that you could pick the keyboard....then you pick the key you want, which is the space bar for me.   Then in actions I found I clicked system and "restart layout" and also "reset global variables to default" since I have a score system.

It's weird. I try things and can't figure them out, and then just as I ask in the forum I get it figured out not long after. Next time I'll just keep trying longer and then post if I really can't figure something out.

This game doesn't have levels.....it's more or less an obstacle course. Thanks for replying.

  • This is an edit, but I'll post it as a reply. I was making the example and figured it out. I set the behavior of the ball to 1000 max speed, but lowered the acceleration and deceleration so the player will still be able to maneuver it through the game without the ball going too fast....but now when they hit a trap the ball shoots away! Thanks for the replies, they helped. :)

  • Reply to Ashley and zsangerous:

Ashley: I decided not to use it in that game and have finished the game, but I want to use it in the future.... I could probably make a new one just with that action to show a .capx. I'll do that in a few minutes....

zsangerous: yes, the ball has movement using the arrow.   But from what I see in your post, should I have had the max speed at 1000 on the behavior of the ball to begin with? My max speed on the behavior is set at 200, acceleration:600, deceleration: 500. If I have the max speed already set to 1000 then the ball will move too fast. What I want to do is when they come in contact with a certain object, they will speed up very fast and run into a wall and be destroyed....it's sort of a booby trap so the next time they will pick a different path. I'll just make an example .capx and put it in dropbox.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • I tried using an action and it doesn't seem to work. Perhaps I am doing it wrong.

(Ball) - on collision with another object (bar)

            Action: set speed to 1000

The ball was originally set to 400, but when I try it out the speed doesn't change. I'm new to construct2 but it wasn't hard to figure out after I read the beginners tutorial. Other actions seem to work ok, at least the ones I've tried, but this one doesn't seem to work.   I have 8 direction movement as a behavior on the ball.

    Can anyone help? Thanks.

Edit: This is a ball you move with the arrow keys. I do not have bullet as a behavior. Is the set speed action only for bullet objects?

  • I figured out what I was doing wrong. I haven't used sitebuilder for over a year and realized that, duh, I was adding the html file right to a page, then when I opened it I was just seeing the code and not the game. I realized an hour ago that I have to link to the html file on my own site using an iframe......which I already knew, just forgot. lol

    Thanks for the replies.
