  • ^oh ok I see. thanks for the explanation. makes more sense now.

  • I just changed everything 'from beginning' to 'current frame'

I thought from beginning meant that whenever you do play the run animation (or whatever animation) that you want it to start from the first frame. I guess technically I'm still a bit confused on the difference between the two now that i'm thinking about it again but it works so... *Shrug*

  • > Let's compare my .capx which is a bug cannot play animation while press down arrow.

Mine works perfectly fine. I have full-blown animations for each arrow key that is pressed. I am using the latest beta version, too.

    > Could someone show an example on how to properly set animations?

You need to change play from beginning in the set animation to play from current frame. I said that above. If you don't like the result of that, you need to put in checks to prevent it from continuously changing the animation, because it will never get the chance to play the animation.

Ok it's working just fine now. Thanks for the tip

  • Could someone show an example on how to properly set animations?

this is how i've been doing it:

  • I backed up my project before opening my project in 105. I was using 104 prior to using 105.

I haven't done any changes to my game, I just ran one of the layouts and my character moves around but the animations that are supposed to play stop at the first frame. The animations are triggered properly (knows when it should be in walking animation, running, jumping) but only plays the very first frame.

Afterwards I uninstalled 105 and reinstalled 104 and the animations are working properly (just to make sure it wasn't my pc causing problems).

  • oof. That really kills it. I honestly feel somewhat mislead by scirra.

I won't lie... Although I do love Construct 2 overall and how easy it is to use, I do feel like they promote the product as if you can easily port your projects to all these devices without really explaining the limitations or even outlining the style of games you can make for mobile :/

and something like a little animated story book or matching card games? No sir... that's def not what I'd really consider games ( I mean, yes they CAN//ARE games but you know what I mean).

The main project they use as the example is a platform game.

    :(

Still going to finish up Super Ubi Land and see what I can do to make a mobile version of it either with Construct 2 hopefully in the near future or with something else

  • No Up Up Ubi was made with something else. My previous programmer worked on that game with me. I'm nervous about Construct 2 and mobile tho, I really wanted to get games made for mobile :/

  • To be honest i cant get anything to work right with mobile. I even bought a samsung galaxy s3, ipad3 and ipod touch to test. Cant get app mobi or anything to work on my devices.

    EDIT

actually I tried phonegap. the performance was a little iffy but at least it was running on my samsung galaxy s3.

It seems anything above 9.5mb -10mb wont be able to make it to mobile?

  • TIGS is now going through the dev logs and creating visual maps for the indie games in development. It's to help organize and mention the games that are showing good progress and what may have interesting updates. They're going to start doing this weekly so I suggest my fellow Scirra game developers to start a devlog on TGIS forums and hopefully that will help with more exposure.

Also they're published on the main page of TIGS.

Super Ubi Land was included in the 2nd (current) dev log map (as well as other great looking indie games)! Take a look :D

Here's the official forum for the Visual Devlog

and here on the main page of TGIS is where it's featured:

  • Thanks for the advice! :D

  • camtasia studio. always works like a charm when i record. here's some samples:

    Subscribe to Construct videos now
  • Can we at least get a 'reset group' action? Groups don't reset when going to the same layout. It's a real pain to keep up with all of them..

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • I jsut learned something new reading through this. Thanks InkBot, the variable idea for the sounds actually was cool. Im adding that to my game now.

  • great answer Jim15. Looking at it that way makes a ton of sense.

I fall into the category of the people that draw everything by hand, scan it into photoshop and color. But i could see why others wouldnt want to do that. But overall, it's not really that bad once you get a workflow going.

Editing sprites is probably my biggest problem since that usually means redrawing an entire sprite if it didnt work well with the animation.

  • ^Good Idea :)

    I agree.
