been working on Super Ubi Land all day.

    • Added a balloon hang/gliding ability (a little addition for those who've played up up ubi) allows ubi to glide for about 5 seconds before popping.
    • enemies now have a particle explosion effect once you kill them
    • every time you jump on two or more enemies (without touching the ground), a combo/multiplier counter pops up and you get points x the number of enemies you killed before touching the ground again. After about 6 enemies, you start earning 1ups
    • Built more of the test level
    • fixed bugs

Sometime next week I'll be starting on the art again drawing more enemies, environments, etc.

MelVin Thank you sir! appreciate your kind words

  • Thank you. I changed the video and I will also check out the example you've posted. I'll let you know if it's what i was talking about. Thanks again!

    *UPDATE*

yes! that's exactly what I wanted! Thanks a ton!

I'm wondering how you can show the amount of points earned by killing an enemy. Basically right after you stomp on the enemy, their point value appears and fades away. The point values change too so i need to be able to display the changing point values.

    Thanks a ton!

  • Thanks Sqiddster for the reply :)

  • Yes, I'd like to know as well.

I am planning to make a game in construct 2 but I'd wish to sell the game and I wanted to make it for PC and possibly MAC. But I'd really like exe for now.

Just wondering so I would know which engine to use for my game.

I was thinking of using Gamemaker Studio ONLY because of the export options but I love Construct though, it's really easy to use. I would use Construct Classic but it being limited to only pc is why I won't use it because I'd like to port to other devices in the future.

Not trying to sound annoying, just want to make the best decision for my project that'll be in dev over the next 6months or so.

    Thanks :)

  • will you be writing any more books on construct? I'm really wanting help with creating a mario world type level selector where you move around on a map. That would be awesome

  • just bought the digital copy of the book. good work. and thanks

My name is Drew and I am a 2d artist that is looking for a programmer who is familiar with Construct. I worked in the pro game industry as a concept artist and a character designer for the Sims 3 Pets and a game that was cancelled by EA. After that, I decided that I'd like to start my own indie company (Notion Games LLC).

The games I am wanting to make are 'Super Ubi Land' and 'Team Notion.'

Super Ubi Land will be a game similar to Super Mario World but not nearly as big. This project is moreso to get used to working with the programmer before starting on the bigger project Team Notion.

I started playing around with Construct 2 and Gamemaker and was able to make these in about 2 days:

(The art in these two videos are incomplete and is just my playing around with the engine trying to learn them myself a bit)

Team Notion will be a side scroller 2d beat em up similar to the Streets of Rage, Final Fight and Castle Crasher games.

I started Notion Games LLC to create indie games back in Nov 2011 and released one game so far:

We have a small team in Notion; Myself (artist, game designer), Calum Bowen (composer), Joe (ports the finished games to other plats) and Matthew Jones (writer). We are in need of a main programmer who will work closely with me to create the games.

We are really serious and passionate about game creation and we'd love to have a programmer on board who feels the same. If you are interested, please contacts us.

  • I cannot seem to be able to find a way for the world map character to actually be moved without direct input. but it's also not giving me the exact result that i want (the way I'm doing it).

and once the character sprite overlaps a node, how do i stop the movement?

  • Thank you so much for the help. I will post again if I am having trouble.

  • Hi I was wondering how to create a mario style worldmap where you can move around and play levels that you've unlocked. And once you're at a specific level mark, be able to warp to the level to begin play.

    Examples:

    <img src="http://static.gamesradar.com/images/mb/GamesRadar/us/Features/2009/12/Sonic%20and%20Mario%20rereviewed/Map--article_image.jpg" border="0" />

    Thanks for the help :)

  • Thank you :D

I'm digging construct. Are they working on more exports? Like exe and stuff? just wondering

    ORIGINAL POST

My name is Andrew Augustin. I am the artist for Notion Games. I am not a programmer by any means but I am wanting to learn more about what goes on in games beyond just creating the art so I bought Construct 2. I am creating a personal project called 'Super Ubi Land' (obviously inspired by Mario and other 90s platformers).

I plan to complete this game and create it all in C2. So far, C2 has been really easy to get into. I have played around with it for about 5 hours and I created this build of Super Ubi Land:

Ubi is a character that I created for my other game for the iOS called 'Up Up Ubi.'

(I am currently trying to figure out how to make enemies move around and also have enemy birds that fly around. I'll keep looking around and try to figure things out but if you know of any good tutorials with that in specific, please link me. Thanks)
