  • Noga Are you on a laptop with a GPU? If so, and you haven't run into the issue before, it's likely that the GPU isn't being utilized at all here, and it's falling back to integrated graphics. If that's the case, you need to go to the NVIDIA Control Panel and enable GPU acelleration for the browser.

Also, that's a very big difference for what should be no difference (monitor size). That's a classic example of the problem in the 'low quality fullscreen scaling isn't resolution independent' topic.

I changed it to use gpu and tested few resolutions, but the numbers are the same.

  • I'm curious about it too.

could help us, he has it in his game.

  • Laptop

    • Intel Core i5 1.6 GHz
    • 4 GB RAM
    • NVIDIA GeForce GT840M 2GB

    I'm using 2 monitors

    • 15.6" 1366 x 768
    • 24" 1920 x 1080

    Settings

    • Fullscreen: yes
    • Graphics: standart

    15.6" - native 1366 x 768

    • 640 x 360 > steady 60 fps
    • 854 x 480 > steady 60 fps
    • 960 x 540 > 45 - 60 fps
    • 1024 x 576 > 43 - 57 fps
    • 1280 x 720 > 37 - 51 fps
    • 1366 x 768 > 35 - 42 fps

    24" - native 1920 x 1080

    • 640 x 360 > 42 - 45 fps
    • 854 x 480 > 39 - 44 fps
    • 960 x 540 > 38 - 45 fps
    • 1024 x 576 > 37 - 40 fps
    • 1280 x 720 > 31 - 35 fps
    • 1366 x 768 > 27 - 31 fps

Playing on those 2 lowest resolutions on the 15.6" was good, to actually see it without any hiccup. If I didn't know about the performance issue, I'd happily play on all resolutions, except maybe the two highest, and wouldn't even noticed/mind. Only when it dropped somewhere below 40 fps it become noticable and distracting.

  • Ye, same here. Actually all C2 games I've tried are crashing and all other games, not made in C2 are not, which is annoying. Not C2 problem, though.

    • Samsung i9300 Galaxy S III - Android 4.3 - almost no crashes here, so all good
    • GIGABYTE GSmart Guru G1 - Android 4.2.1 - more crashes than on S3
    • Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 SM-T110 - Android 4.4.2 - this one has newest version, but crashes most. When I do clean install of a C2 game, the game works fine. Next time I try it, it crashes. To make it work again I have to reinstall it or restart the device.

It looks like bad memory management. Haven't tried any fiddling with audio, but there's something about it.

This is very important issue. My game takes about 10 seconds to load. Now when I imagine it could be 2 sec......ahhh, hopefully, they'll fix it soon.

  • My first concern is about having a good gameplay experience. So do you think it's good now?

Yes, definitely better than interrupted by ads.

  • This time I didn't see any ads. I'm not counting the banner in the start screen. I played twice.

First time - like 5 minutes - no ads at all ??

Second time - 2-3 games, than I went back to the start screen and an interstitial showed up.

Ok, now it's much more fun, but aren't you too strict? Before it was just bad placement and wrong timing. Did you shut'em off from the gameplay?

  • I'm also working on a penguin game

I've downloaded the game and played it for 2 minutes, than quit and probably won't play it again.

    Why?

You display interstitials during gameplay, that's a big no-go!!! I was in the middle of a jump, when the ad showed up.

Watch this video, when and when not to implement interstitials.

It looks like you've spent a lot of time creating the game and it could be nice, fun game, but that bad ad's implementation turned me off completely.

  • Thanks for the summary, love it.

  • Here's the link

To the game. It's a paid app and with that, everyone demands higher quality standard. There are no in game screenshots, no gameplay video.

C'mon man, get real. You can't expect anyone sane to pay for it. Look at other games at the store and try to learn from them, get some experience. Once your quality is high enough, start making paid apps.

  • Thanks, that's useful info.

  • Nice game, I like the sounds birds are making, it's funny.

    May I ask you?

Did you use any plugin to lock the screen in portrait? How big, in pixels, are your parallax backgrounds and what is the screen size?

  • Yes, it's not the original. As you can try, the link in the first post doesn't work. The author had to take it down from Google apps store, probably because of the name conflict. Now you can find the game here, under a new name "Dumb Ball".

I'd like to hear from cioclod what was the problem.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads

You can already arrange object types in the Z order window, if that's what you mean.

Ah, nice. Didn't see that one.

That means arranging Object types in the Project bar shouldn't be hard to make either.

It could have another beneficial use. When arranging Object types, it would change the object's z-order, similar to how Photoshop layers work. Don't know how complicated it'd be to implement....

Hopefully the Event sheets order isn't anything hard to do.
