Thank you so much everyone, especially after the thread has been stagnant for so long - thank you for rediscovering it.

Currently busy in IBDP, but I've never forgotten about this game. I'll jump onto it the first thing this December.

Now using my pockets of free time to learn composing in Famitracker!

I'm glad it feels like Megaman / Kirby - it's the look and feel I've been trying to imitate.

    More to come!!

    Kouille

If you still need the pointers, do shoot me a PM; I'll be glad to help.

  • Alright. Excellent!

Finally got some purchasing ability online - having the time of my life with Shovel Knight now - and I can't wait to play IB as well!

  • Whoa.....this is breathtaking. There's just so much effort put into making the game feel alive.

I've been eyeing this project a while and I'm so glad to hear that you're still working on it!!

    All the best!

  • Windwalker JPBreau allowiscous Thanks a bunch guys! I can't believe people are still on the watch for this project :'D

Having just finished my exams yesterday, I've already gone back to Little Green Soldier to fix some major bugs and touch up the graphics for Level 1.

Next I'll redo the graphics for the village, implement all the villagers, events and dialogues, and then I can give another alpha release.

I'm also considering to restart the thread for this game at the WIP/Feedback forum, since the more serious projects seem to be over there.

Thanks! And everyone - feel free to give any feedback!

  • Guess who's back! With a graphical overhaul, and sweet new GIFs to go with it!!

I didn't want it to be a desert, actually - more like a gloomy junkyard kinda place. Which is why the level is named "DESERT?" in that it's not actually a desert. Look carefully into the background...

More on the village once I settle my Mid-year exams!

As always, comment if you feel like it!

  • Hey Nixel, this is a very COOL game! Congrats! Do you plan to create a mobile browser version out of it? If so we would like to license your game. Please contact me at "andre.krug@softgames.de". We always want new cool games !

    Mr Krug:

Hi! I'm honoured by your offer. It's very tempting, but I had to consider it carefully before I could make up my mind, so my apologies for the delayed reply.

At this point in time, I'm still a student working on this project in my spare time - which means that I probably don't have the time to make a mobile version for this game. What's more, I think I'll end up using a lot of keys/buttons for this game, which might not be suitable for mobile version.

So, thank you very much for the offer, but I will unfortunately have to put you on hold for the time being. My sincerest apologies.

Anyway, while I'm waiting for my old laptop to get repaired, here's all the concept art I have. It's all dark and smudgy because my pencil drawing is light and I'm an amateur at using scanners.

Canis, village bartender and a cool cat in general. My favourite character, personally.

    Canis and Colombe, the siblings.

    Porter, inventor and village genius.

Cheval, father of Colombe. Couch potato and very much into politics.

The General - hero of the propaganda.

As always...comment if you feel like it!

I really hope I can recover my game soon

  • Whoa whoa whoa. This looks absolutely delicious. The pixel art is impeccable.

As a fan of retro games as well....I can't wait to see more.

  • JPBreau

I really wish so! Alas, a few weeks ago my computer suffered a mysterious death, and I've only recovered half of my capx file. Which means my village and cutscenes are gone. :<

It's not totally dead - one fine day I might actually still be able to revive my computer and save the files to dropbox in time - but for now, especially when I'm also swamped with school projects (IB program!), I think I'll leave this project alone for a while.

But you have my word that I will return to it and complete it.

Many thanks for looking out for this project of mine! I really appreciate it.

  • Try Construct 3

  • Whoa. I was a little uneasy about the new graphics because I really like 8-bit graphics in general. But I'm not even mad now, the updated graphics are amazing.

Wall jumping is vastly, hugely improved - I cannot stress how glad I am to see the overhaul in wall jump mechanics - thank you for the efforts.

    Spanking good job!!!

But currently I'm just stuck in Deep Forest. I find it quite hard to jump while zombie surfing...or is it just me?

EDIT: Deep Forest boss is a complete beast. 2-hit KO...

  • Right! So...more characters! (Man, this village thing is tasking.)

    <img src="http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/bb366/IC-Claws/GrampsFull_zpsf5f3ecfa.png" border="0" />

    Grandpa Cheval (Chev)

Father to Canis and Colombe. A potato couch who's glued to the TV all day long, keeping watch of H.U.M.A.N.I.T.Y.'s propaganda scene all around the world. Gramps is strongly opinionated about the new government, and isn't afraid to curse every now and then - even in front of his grandson!

    <img src="http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/bb366/IC-Claws/GrannyFull_zpsf83c3b8b.png" border="0" />

    Raven

Mother to Porter. She's only rumored to exist - a legitimately insane old lady, living in a cave way out of the villagers' sight. Her existence has never been acknowledged by her son.

Next I might post some concept art of some of the characters!

As always, comment if you ever feel like it =)

New screens of my platformer Little Green Soldier, seeing as my thread has been...ah...flooded out of sight.

It's the village area where you rest in between each level. Lots of graphics aren't done yet, but I just couldn't resist posting a WIP.

(I have no idea why the falling snow is square-shaped; it turns out normally in fullscreen mode.)

  • Aaaand here's another 'I'm alive and so is my project' update! Consisting shamelessly of 3 screenshots only!

Welcome to the village. Coming up soon...after I finish all the house interiors and relevant events.

As always, any comments and/or feedback will be much appreciated!!

  • Whoa. Nice job guys, seriously! Good luck with the rest of...well...whatever needs to be done! I hope this game will make it out there (a good chance, from the looks of it!)

If I can convince my parents to pay for this I'm definitely going to play the heck out of it. :D

  • VictoryX

Hey, thanks a lot. Er...is there something I can do about browser differences? I'm still finding my way around Construct...

Oh yeah, I've ran into the running bug a couple of times and it just slipped my mind eventually. Thanks! I'll fix it.

Anyway, now I'm whipping up all the graphics for the village which you return after every level as a home base. Sneak preview of the stuff I'm doing:

    <img src="http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/bb366/IC-Claws/Angel_zps37f725a9.png" border="0" />

Yeah, there's an angel statue featured in the village. And *shhh* it's actually a robot. And it's plot-important!

  • Hey, congratulations on the Kickstarter progress guys.

If I had some money to spill I would definitely back you.

The comments on steam look like they can get pretty vicious, so best of luck to you all.
