  • Are there any teacher sites that work well with Construct 2 files? I would like to be able to upload my activity directly to a page I control so I can incorporate some PDF's/ links into it. I've been uploading to the Arcade but I don't know what file types it allows and it won't support the opening of links (both for security purposes I think).

  • I've got a Google sites page I want to upload the final version of my project to directly, but how do I do that? I've been uploading it to the arcade but there's a couple files I want users to be able to open directly from the project and they won't work on the arcade. I'm not super emotionally attached to Google sites so if there's another site that works better that is also free/very cheap (broke grad student here) I'm open to suggestions.

  • Try Construct 3

  • In my activity, players select a multiple choice and an arrow appears beside it indicating their selection. Once they think they have the right answer they press submit. Currently I have it so the arrows get pinned to the background - this part is working fine. However my trouble comes with the end page that shows them their results. For example, say they answered A for question 2. Ideally on the end page the system will enter "2. A" based on the y- position of the arrow. It's hit and miss currently, and there is no rhyme or reason I can tell as to what determines whether an answer will be recorded. Is there a way to use the y-position of the arrow on one layer to have the system fill in a text box with a preset answer in another layer? I'm not sure if this makes sense- I tried copying the code I have but I'm struggling

  • This may seem like a silly questions but how do you download the plugin? I extracted the files for the paster plugin but when I try to open the example it gives me an error message.

Or would there be a way to shrink the layer and move its position so it shows up in a predetermined box on the final layer?

  • In my activity I have one layout with multiple layers. The last layer is a certificate my students submit to proof (as best as I'm able) they completed the activity. I have it so there's a button they press to begin the snapshot so they can save it to their system. I also have the system take a canvas snapshot of a picture they make about halfway through the activity and transfer it to the last layer. I can get each to work on their own but not together. When I try to do the full activity it gives me an error message when the system tries to take a snapshot of the student-drawn picture Is there a way I can include both canvas snapshots?

  • I've been working on an educational activity on phylogenetics (tree of life). There is one question in which students drag and drop pictures of dinos into their appropriate place on a pre-drawn tree. I want to be able to basically do a canvas snapshot of the completed tree and transfer it to another layer. Is it possible to do this? I've tried to think of if there is an alternative way for them to do the question, but I'm stumped. I don't know if I explained it well, but basically I want to be able to have students drop pictures on to the pre-drawn tree and have a snapshot of that tree only (not the whole layer) transferred to a different layer.

  • I was hoping it the powerpoint (or I could convert it to a PDF it'd be easier) would open in a new window/tab. Is this possible with an AJAX or local storage object? Or something they can open on their desktop. If it isn't doable I'm sure I could have the files for them to download on my webpage and it wouldn't be the end of the world. Just for flow and appearance's sake I want them to open directly from the activity so they're not clicking back and forth.

  • I've got a .pptx file in my project bar and a button in the activity itself I want the user to be able to click and have the .pptx open. I've got the AJAX function to request the .pptx, but I can't figure out how to get it to open in a different window. Is there a specific line(s) of code I need to use?

  • I added a "get screenshot" function to my game. When I'm previewing it in Mozilla and click the button to get the screenshot, it opens a new window that is completely black. After that when I click on the screenshot button it lets me open it in Paint. Am I missing something here? Here's my code:

On tap "Text2" System take snapshot of canvas

    Function: call CanvasSnapshot()

Browser: invoke download of CanvasSnapshot with filename "Answers"

  • I'm designing an activity for one of my classes on the scientific method. Part of the scientific method includes analyzing and displaying data. I would like them to use a scatter plot to display the decline of bees over the last 7 years (data range we've got access to). The tricky part is that their independent variables (on the y-axis) could have different variables and this different increments. I was thinking having them to it in Excel, but the rest of the activity lends itself well to Construct 2 so I'd like to keep everything there. Is there an easy way to build a flexible graph in Construct 2 OR drag an Excel graph into the activity?

Update: I think I can get around the fact their increments will be different on the Y-axis by including a set number of text boxes they can enter their scale for. So I guess all I would need is allowing them to draw on the graph to plot their points. I've thought about making 7 circles (one for each year) that they can drag where they need to go, but I'd prefer them to draw their points themselves. Not a big deal either way, just my preference

  • Thank you! I've got it working now.

  • I've got a total of 7 multiple choice questions and 1 short response question in my activity. There is a small arrow sprite for each question that is off-screen until the user clicks on an answer choice. The sprite will then go to the answer they clicked on. At the end of the activity I want to get a print out of what answers the students chose. There are 2 layouts that have questions and the last layout is currently what they will ultimately turn in to their instructor. Is there a way to do this? Would it help including a "persist" function for all the text boxes and sprites?

If worse comes to worst I can probably just set up another layer that recalls the answers in the 2 layouts with questions (I'm 90% sure I know how to do this, but stayed tuned). If I do this, is there an easy way for students/users to get transfer their results into a Word document. I know I can tell them to just do a print screen, but I feel that is a bit unprofessional looking (most won't crop it) and it can be hard for the instructors to read it.

  • My project has a total of 6 layouts. One layout (start screen) will have buttons/clickable text that takes the user to the appropriate layout (1 link for each of the 5 different layouts). However, I want the user to have to visit the layouts in a certain order. Right now when the project is loaded the first layout they need to visit is set at 100 opacity, and all the others are at 50. I want each link to only work if they're at 100 opacity. I've tried setting it up so a button that appears at the end of the first required layout will take the user back to the start screen AND set the opacity for the next layout at 100. I've been able to get the button to take the user back to the start screen but I can't seem to get the next layout link to turn to 100 opacity. Any suggestions?

  • Doing the events in a backward order worked beautifully! Thank you so much for your help!!!

  • I've been working on creating my activity using layers instead of layouts. I've got a background layer plus several layers with varying text and pictures on them. When the project loads the first layer is visible (which I want), and there's a clickable sprite on the background layer (always visible) that should take the user to the specified layer. However, when I click on it it takes me to the last layer. There's also a back sprite on the background layer, and if I click on that one while on the last layer it takes me to the previous layer and I can do so all the way to the first layer. So in a nutshell the back sprite is working fine, but the next sprite always takes me to the last layer regardless of what layer I'm currently on. I saw a topic where a user was having the same problem but the answer seemed to be highly specific for his/her problem. Anyone else encounter this or know how to remedy it?
