Good luck with uni and a future as a composer!

  • Okay! You can pull this question down admin. I got the answers from other forum answers. Guess i will do a search in future.

  • hi folks.

I am looking to create a type of hybrid interactive children's book that acts more like a subtle animation film where characters can be moved via touch or mouse click to go to next page. Also thinking of incorporating some sort of puzzle to proceed. I used to do Flash animation. Now that it's dead on iOS, i am hoping to replicate such animations via C2 with and go the HTML5 route. But so far, i've read that it's best to keep animated sprites small to avoid bad performance issues. Can i tween animating sprites across the scene if they're on a large scale - 256 x 256 or bigger while using background parallax etc? Hope my question makes sense.

As a second question. Could i achieve something like the game 'Comb over Charlie'?

    Thanks in advance <img src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Thanks guys!

I wasn't sure if the static animations and other effects were possible. I believe the game was made with some other JS engine. But really looking forward to working with C2.

  • Would it be possible to create a game similar to this HTML5 fun cannon high seas shoot out in C2. I am new to this 2D game engine and i'd like to know if using animated sprites and large moving background images is possible.

  • Some cool tips here thanks guys.

Hey Era, are you monomania owner? Some very nice games there. Encourages me to try and master C2.

  • I am glad to see Ludei aka JMO make an appearance. I await the pricing for 2013 and will be willing to see what's on offer. I do hope it's a model like Appmobi with a 'pay as you earn' tariff. That would really help hobbyists and indie devs who don't earn a dime - yet!

Thanks JMO and co for your feedback.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR 2013 <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • I'd like to know how C2 Game Developers typically prototype and finish their games. I am at the L plate stage and so i'm still looking for tips and advice on the best workflow.

I was actually thinking about using rough graphic images to prototype and see how the game gels and advances, then adding finished graphics later on when i know for sure that everything works seamlessly.

    Thanks and Happy New Year!

  • Many thanks Tap at Appmobi for clarify the MAU pricing. Eureka! I finally get it. That's pretty cool and the applab sounds awesome - no need to buy every mobile device before publishing.

Hey Nemo, i agree about the cocoon JS splash screen. It's ridiculous and a bad decision on their part. Far too invasive. A small logo would be better. Considering the very favourable pricing for C2 and other engines like Stencyl, it's a joke if third-party service providers try and exploit the large wannabe game developer base - like roofers putting their rates up in winter! Anyway, i've made up my mind. I'll be going with Appmobi when ready to publish. <img src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Many thanks Tap for clarifying a few worries of mine.

I really like the options of being able to publish to OS, Android, Amazon, Nook, Win8, Chrome, Facebook. I have no delusions about becoming the next Rovio or Supercell - i wish! But if i'm having to pay $99 for iOS, Android, Windows dev licenses, i want to be sure that i can actually get the game up and running. The ability to test on emulators is a big plus for me. I am a little confused about Appmobi's MAU pricing structure.

So far, Appmobi is the quicker to respond to questions and annoying beginner's worries <me> so thanks for stopping by.

    Appreciated!

  • I think that C2 could actually be used for more than just games. I am looking at it for Interactive Children's books and simple educational apps and also for corporate gamification on their websites - think about some custom designed and branded fun games / quizzes that would add some entertainment value to certin online businesses! As a web designer, illustrator and animator, i have been looking at C2 and Stencyl as my next step in diversifying.

It's sad that nobody on here is making a good living from game design, but it just proves that it's a serious industry that requires tons of money, talented devs and designers. I love to read indie success stories but they're few and far between. Rovio and Supercell are mega successful and the latter company makes $700,000 a day from a few games (Clash of Clans being one. I'd be glad to make 1% of that a month lol!

I am sure that C2 will grow in strength as HTML5 is embraced and improved in the next few years. Mobile internet is the new revolution and HTML5 is the engine that powers it. Apps cost a fortune to develop - have you seen what Objective C devs get paid in London? Just wish i had the brains for that. Sadly it all looks like Sanskrit to me.

I am sticking with C2 and Stencyl for now. My only wish was that i didn't have to rely on third-party game acceleration / cloud services to publish them. <img src="smileys/smiley3.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • It would be nice to hear from some Appmobi users.

Not sure what CocoonJS will charge in the new year. Saw a demo video from Ludei on Youtube and noticed their rather large splash screen and logo. Seems too invasive and they should allow developers to remove it easily. If that's not the case, then i might opt for Appmobi instead. Appmobi also replied to my messages very promptly - always a good sign that they actually care. Sadly Ludei did not!!

I am still on the wall as to whether i'm gonna go with C2 or Stencyl. I might use both actually. Stencyl does offer universal apps for iOS which is a big winner for me. But i prefer C2's interface and methodology.

    Thanks for your replies guys!

  • Hi all,

I am new to C2. Seems like an amazing 2D engine. I have dreams of publishing to iOS, Android, Windows phone 8 and Chrome / Google play Store. Yet, reading the forums on problems and bugs with appmobi and cocoonjs, seems like its a work in progress. I don't want to master this great game engine only to be confronted with publishing issues after paying for dev licenses. My only wish was that C2 could at least publish to iOS and Android with one-click from within the engine and i would willingly pay any extra for that. Please would some of you tell me i have no reasons to be cautious. <img src="smileys/smiley5.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Thanks Jayjay.

Sounds like a good solution - if using wordpress.

  • Thanks Justifun & Ashley.

I am hoping there might be a script that would detect non-HTML5 browsers and simply load an image instead of the C2 game. <img src="smileys/smiley17.gif" border="0" align="middle" />
