  • Hi, it may not be related but I have a weird thing happening when previewing in Chrome also - which only just started yesterday.

One game I have been working on has bee getting a constant 60 fps. finished up for the day, last preview constant 60 fps. The next day (yesterday) when previewing in Chrome it was getting a constant 30 fps!

    What's weird about it:

    1) I hadn't made any changes to the game.

    2) IE11 runs it at constant 60 fps (webgl)

    3) Export as win8 app - constant 60 fps (canvas 2D)

I thought maybe WebGL was turned off in Chrome somehow but it appears not and it reports as running in WebGL when previewing.

I even did a complete reinstall of my system, graphics drivers are up to the minute. Just tried on CR146 - same....

  • Ashley, all OK in R144.2.

Thanks for great product and excellent support.

  • Hmmm, any game exported to Win8 fails when attempting to run in VS....

  • Link to .capx file (required!):

Not required. Just use the Scirra Windows 8 app template.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Create new Win8 game with Scirra template

    2. Export the game

    3. Open it in VS

    4. Run it..

    Observed result:

Compiles game and attempts to run it, but gets this error:

Unhandled exception at line 158, column 57 in ms-appx://0e988538-1fed-41f2-a000-0d2cf189c901/c2runtime.js

    Expected result:

    Should run the game

  • Hi Jase5z,

I am not sure if you are saying you have a Steam licence as well as a one obtained directly from Scirra, so sorry if I am on the wrong track.

However that said, if you purchased a PL from Scirra you can get your license file at any time - do this:

    1) Go to the Scirra Login screen and log in

    2) Expand the menu arrow next to your name

    3) Select Your Purchases

    4) You will be able to download your license file from there

But if you only have one purchased through Steam, then as zenox98 says your best option is to contact Scirra...

    Hope this helps <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Have installed the 8.1 preview, and IE 11 has webgl (flagged as experimental).

However when you create a win8 app it still uses Canvas2D.

    We wait and hope......

  • Well, you guys deserve some time off. Thanks for the update though. :)

  • Your welcome.

By the way welcome to the world of C2!

  • I know this thread is getting old, but just to add to Kyatric's comment...

Chrome is great desktop browser but on Android device I have found it to be pretty useless.

I use Chrome on desktop, a Galaxy 10.1 Tablet (using latest Chrome beta), and also an iPad mini, for testing games.

One game I am working on:

Desktop: Solid 60 FPS sound always works.

Galaxy: 10-20 FPS and the sound mostly never works.

iPad mini: 55 + FPS and the sound always works!

So I think it is not C2 that is at fault....

  • dan013,

When you purchase a licence you get a free Assets pack.

    To get the assets pack:

    1) Login on the Scirra site

    2) At the top of the window click your name

    3) From the dropdown list select Your Purchases

    4) Then select the Get Assets button

In the downloaded package you find a folder called Jungle Platformer which has all the images for the Jungle platform tutorial.

Hope this is what you are looking for....

  • Hi ashleymari,

You need to add the mouse object to your project.

  • Sorry no .capx file (could not reproduce in cut down project):

    Steps to reproduce:

I get this error trying to run one of my projects using LAN preview in Safari (iPad mini)

This was happening in R136 as well. I was going to report it but tried R137 to see if it was still happening.

Note: If I go back to R135 the game works fine.

    Observed result:

    Javascript error!: DOM Exception

1: Index or size was negative, or greater than the allowed value. 192.168.0.2/50000/Sprite_plugin.js, line 675 (col

    undefined).

This is either a bug in Construct 2 or a problem in a third party plugin or behaviour - please report it to the developer.

    Expected result:

    Just run the game.

  • I never had any problems with vista, but win7 is heaps better, and win8 is awesome.

Would definitely recommend win8, C2 runs just fine, and sound is no problem.

  • Leaving the licence model as-is is definitely a preferred option, and is great for the majority of C2 users at the moment I would imagine.

Based on their current model, I believe Scirra is not expecting buckets of money from every single customer.

Their price range is fair, and will allow many new-comers to come on board.

As long as the user base keeps growing enough I imagine they will keep the status quo.

But if they ever need to rethink their sales model, I think they would keep their motto in mind - 'Construct 2 is a game maker for Windows that lets everyone create amazing games.' - and remember not everyone has plenty of money.

Yeah, I haven't checked out their subscription service - just wondering if you get to keep using what you already have if you don't renew the subscription, with Adobe I would expect the answer is no.

I will check it out later....
