makotto, I went with your solution. it makes complete sense. I didn't realize you could use a '.physics' of an object. Just didn't occur to me. Thanks!

Gmoney, I didn't realize that was what the force attribute could be used for, I thought it was literally to apply force on an object as if it were being hit. Though I suppose that's what impulse is for. I don't fully understand what is happening with force.

  • I'm having physics objects fall into a platformer and the height they fall from gives them a lot of time to accelerate, causing them to fall way too quickly. Is there a way to set their maximum fall speed?

P.S. They fall from various heights, so changing their original height isn't a solution.

  • TL;DR: When using the default platformer functions, falling before jumping breaks double jumping. How can I fix this? Also, is triple jumping possible?

Title probably doesn't explain very well, but I'm trying to figure out how when using the built-in platformer functions I can control when jumping & double jumping is triggered. I want to be able to be able to set when additional jumps can be done. Currently double jumping seems broken.

For example, if you do the following:

Launch the Platformer Template > Click the player > Enable "double jumping" under Behaviors

    You'll notice some things:

    • Jumping from solid ground allows you to double jump
    • Without jumping, if you fall off an object you can jump but you can't double jump.

This could simply be that by default falling either counts as a jump, or disables double jumping. Though if you set "If player is falling > Double jump enabled" this doesn't allow you to double jump after falling. So it seems like falling off a ledge is registered as your first of two jumps?

I can't find anywhere where these triggers/variables are set, or how to control them.

  • As the title says, I'm trying to implement a dash which a player can perform by double pressing the left or right directional keys. I also need the dash to move the player at a set speed and distance which can be cancelled when the directional key is released.

I.E. Double tap and hold to dash without a fall speed for the determined distance/time. Release at anytime to cancel the dash.

I'm brand spanking new to Construct 2 so please feel free to give any examples which may help me along. I've stumbled through some rough renditions of the dash, but they've so far all been on single key press and at a fixed distance, which aren't really what I'm looking for. I'm not certain how to implement an action on double key-press, or a variable dash distance based on duration of the dash-key held.

Thanks in advance for any help!
