  • New screenshot of the main menu after a much needed rework. I've also finally decided on a title for my app after all this time.

  • I have started a small interactive storybook tentatively titled Lily's Treasure Dream. You may have seen my post here regarding the project and if not here is a link to some of it.

    scirra.com/forum/wip-interactive-story-app_topic62836_post481595.html

    This project is a small and simple interactive story aimed at a younger audience (3-7). The project features story book pages that lead to pages which feature interactive sections for the user to complete in order to progress through the story. I am aiming for release on Android and iOS tablets.

    I am looking for someone else who would like to join the project with me. i am looking for someone who is serious about the project as I plan on completing this no matter what. Someone who could at least dedicate an hour or so a day would be nice.

    As of right now a good part of the project is laid out through storyboard, concepts, and a few finished pieces. The art style for the project is a cartoon like look using both Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Flash to create the art contents.

    Joining would mean you would be helping with art assets, layouts, construct, small simple animations and planning.A paid version of Construct 2 is obviously mandatory and photoshop and adobe flash will be needed as well.

    Currently I have a dropbox setup that has a partial design document (still ongoing),some storyboards which show some of the story aspects and puzzles. Here are a few samples.

    Storyboard:

    <img src="http://i3.minus.com/ibtQ6CyxhG9Uwr.png" border="0" />

    Parts of the story still need to be worked out although a rough layout is there. As a partnership for those wondering about things like payments and financials the project is straight split 50/50 upon release.

    If you're interested you can drop me a line here I figure we could message using skype but I won't give that out here.

  • Finishing up a new background this is put together using final assets. Need to animate a few things like the fireflies and front grass. I've also been throwing around the idea of seeing if there was any interest for bringing someone else on board to work on this but I am not sure. It would be more a partnership.

  • Hello all its been awhile since I have posted here as I have had alot of stuff going on both good and bad. This project kind of fell through as I just couldn't make it work it began heading off in a direction that I didn't like.

    I took some time and reworked things. I took a step back and really worked everything out and basically decided to not create a game but rather an interactive storybook. Pre-production is ongoing but there are still a few things to figure out. Below you can see some new stuff.

    Using construct 2, Adobe Flash and Adobe Photoshop.

  • Thanks for that example I have not seen that one yet.That is along the lines of what I want to do. Mine is like that but drag and drop in the box but that will come in handy and should help.

    I will also try your suggestion Blue as well thank you.

    Here is my capx if you wanna see it.

    (This is an earlier build and only the counting section is enabled and art is alot of placeholders)

    Thank you for all your help guys I really appreciate it. I know when I get things working I will write up a nice good tutorial for this stuff and share it with others who are figuring stuff like this out as well.

  • Hey guys I am still a bit stuck with this issue now for about 3 days and could use a little more help.I am still very confused how to approach this and I have been reading tutorials and watching videos but I really stuck.

    Basically I've tried many things and right now what I have done is make each of the bottom numbers a variable and the coin is a sprite that randomizes. Now the issue I am still having is getting the number and sprite to check each other. I have it setup right now where when you drag a number to the box it snaps to the center and this is when I am trying to get it to check when the number is released to the box where the answer goes.

    So with the first number I set it like this

    <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v322/cmagus/stuck_zps1b3b1017.png" border="0" />

    Now when I place the number into the box it gives me the check mark that I want but it does that every time meaning it probably isn't reading anything just doing it as number 1 works on six. If anyone can help me out some more I would appreciate it.

  • Thanks for the help I appreciate it.

  • I was wondering is it possible to give frames within a sprite values? Currently I am trying to figure out how to have the game check that when a number inside a box matches the value of an image on the screen (randomly generated) here is a screen for better context:

    <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v322/cmagus/help-2_zps48d08199.png" border="0" />

    Basically what I am working on right now is giving the number on the bottom values 0-9 and when the piece is dragged and dropped it snaps into the box which is all set up and working. When the number snaps in I want it to check the value of the image above to see if they match or not and trigger a correct or wrong icon.

    The random coin images are setup in a sprite. It then stops the animation and picks a random frame. Is assigning the values to those frames possible or would I need to go about this another way? Sorry my programming is very poor so I am not sure.

  • I have a question about your method thehen. So I setup my family and put the images inside. The object randomizes the images but it does them all and it keeps repeating instead of producing one and stopping.

    After reading some tutorials I was seeing that I should set the family as an instanced variable along with the objects inside. My issue is I cannot get the random to stop and I was wondering if you had a little more info or anything to point me in the right direction on this.

  • Really cool stuff nice work.

  • No my game is mostly menu based and currently nothing has any sort of collision on it.All the images are png as they are static images. I have tried re-importing stuff and nothing.

    When I preview it in browser on my PC is works fine but when I export it out it won't show some stuff on tablet. At first I thought maybe it was something with the tablet but other images display so I don't think that is the problem.

    I've been trying everything and it just seems like it isn't even any settings and I am starting to think it is an issue during the export.

    ***edit***

    I wasn't that far along so I made a new project and brought everything in again and that seemed to fix the problem on the new project. The images that didn't display before now do. Not sure why maybe a bug but as of now I have this problem under control. Thank you for the help BluePhaze I appreciate it.

  • I am currently having an issue where when I export my game out with Cocoonjs it is leaving some of my art assets as pure white. They are there I can see them moving but there is no colour detail at all. I am trying to run the app on tablet (android, Nexus 7) and some of the art shows just fine but most won't.

    I haven't been able to find anything on this issue but I need to figure this out as I cannot test anything till this problem is fixed.Anyone else experience this or know of a way to correct it?
