  • Hello Scirra Community!

Is there a plugin where all the action/event coding we do with click/touch can be typed using a keyboard?

It would drastically increase our developing time!

I know that one of Contruct 2's main features is the ability to prototyype fast without using complex code syntax. However, once you become used to to the action/events and compare them to typing in the keyboard (especially declaring variables), "the old way" seems faster.

Thanks for all the opinions/insights/solutions regarding this comment.

  • Great article! Even motivational! The interesting part of the tech marriage between Counstruct 2 and Nintendo's e-Shop would be if we as designers/developers have to use the Nintendo's dev kit up to certain extent. Having a 100% exporter to Wii U with all the functionality of that console's controls would be awesome!!!

  • Hello Scirra Community!

I know there are several tutorials related to the following question, but I just can't find the exact tutorial/forum thread.

How can I make a camera to scroll vertically down, so if it hits the player, the player gets destroyed? The camera must have a movement on its own, and not dependent on a character with "scroll to".

Here's an example from the Second Level of Battletoads:

(I don't want the camera to stop).

    I'll appreciate your answers!

  • Great!!! I'm in!!!

  • California Cheers!!!

FLUKE go with one idea that "just feels right", develop it, and finish it! The real trick is trying to know when to move to the next stage. There will always be room for improvement, but you must be confident that you've hit a certain point where you are confident with your production. It is an art by itself. Take risks and go with them!

: You are an inspiration to everyone in this community. Thank you for your kind words!

  • Hey jbmoyer!

    Great question!

Actually, I'm willing to read the opinion of our fellow developers!

I normally have a general event sheet with the core gameplay functions so that all levels (layouts) are referenced to it.

Tutorials, menus, or cutscenes are handled with other event sheets. If a a tutorial is similar to another menu/or cutscene, then I would implement just one event sheet to handle them.

I wouldn't recommend having an event sheet per layout if those layouts perform similar functions.

Memory/resourceswise I don't know if having more event sheets hinders the performance of your project. If there is someone who knows the answer to this question, it will be appreciated!

Let us know what you're working on! If you need help, just ask!

  • Have you taken a look at this tutorial?

I know it is the "de facto" tutorial for beginners in Construct, but your question is related to it!

  • grimwolf: LOL! Sure, publishing via Steam seems like a HUGE endeavor. I'm going step by step--focusing on making a personal game. Steam is too far away right now for my projects!
