  Here is a video I did 2 weeks ago. It's taken from my hackintosh running 10.5.8 (same as a regular mac, just the kernel has been... updated and I can use better hardware. Currently sporting a Phenom 955 and a Geforce 9800GT. Oh yeah, it's cheaper too!)

  As you can see everything works perfect, full 60fps even with my horrendous fake bloom. This also means full dx9 compatibility.

  Wine works perfectly. Wine for OSX also works perfectly. The games might crash on exit, but big deal.

  They just came out... The 5870 is faster then the Geforce 295 anyways.... I'm going to get one, just when the price comes down.

  In 3d apps, UV's are the texture coordinates, 0.0 - 1.0.

  That probably didn't help at all

  Use Linux with Wine for your Windows apps. Both are free. That's another choice.

  At least this way you'll have access to OpenCL if you have a decent video card made in the past 4 years.

  The Unreal 3 engine is now free to use. This is an amazing engine. The shaders are blazing fast. PhsyX support is great. The map building tools are fantastic, terrain support, model support. This is a wet dream come true.

  The licenses are pretty fair also. You should check them out (its not 100% free obviously, but damn near)

  Use a Canvas object. When your bullet hits the ground, use the canvas object to "paste" a black texture (can be anything,) with an Erase effect. That will do the deed.

  This is far from a trial version. You can write your own shaders.... It has RakNet built in ready to go. C#/JS/Boo scripting. Its wonderful!

  Loading screens give the player the illusion that the game is somehow superior. Case in point PopCap, crap.
