  • Hey, I think this effect is just fantastic. Thanks so much for making it. I'm having a bit of an annoying problem with it though. It seems to work differently on my Windows 10 laptop than it does on my Windows 7 desktop. The laptop version seems to not have the effect in the correct place, like it's not far enough along on the x or y axis unless it is at the very top left corner.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Is it a problem with my laptop? I've updated directX and the java if that makes a difference.

Here's my capx if anyone has any ideas, sorry for being a nuisance https://www.dropbox.com/s/q2s9v10we6dtq ... .capx?dl=0

  • Thanks so much! That works a treat!

  • Hi there. Firstly, this plugin is so great and really fun to play around with, thank you so, so much for this.

I have a little puzzle though and I was wondering if someone could perhaps help. Is there any way for objects to be pasted in the same z-order as they appear on the layer? I'm playing about with a little top-down / isometric, split screen thing where objects often change position within the z-order when moving about.

I use the following event to determine where they are on the layer:

but of course this doesn't translate to the order by which they are pasted.

I hope this makes sense, it's a bit difficult to explain. I'd be very grateful for any suggestions as I'm at my wit's end.

    Thank you kindly,

    Keep well,

    Jack

  • Hey, Beeswing was made using Construct 2. It is on Itch.io and Greenlight if you fancy having a look. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... =361103169

  • Hi there,

I am having trouble with the Node Webkit Mac export for my commercial game Beeswing. The game is fairly large, between 1 and 3 hours long and I believe that the game is crashing for some Mac users when loading due to all the resources loading at once (PC and Linux players seem to be ok). I have seen other users talking of a similar issue but I don't have nearly as many assets being used as they seem to.

It seems like something that is 100 percent fixable. I am currently trying to put as many of the art assets into one animation as possible so that they are exported as sprite sheets but this is seems a very rudimentary fix.

I feel devastated that I may have wasted a lot of time and love making this only to be knocked down at the final export.

Post Script. I have tried using older versions of the webkit (10.5 seemingly being a favourite) as well as the alpha released recently. I have tried using stable versions of Construct 2 both 190 and 195.

  • Fantastic! I am so very grateful. My problem is solved! Below is the capx. of how to z-order stuff in an isometric (sort of) game. Thanks LittleStain, Bruno and Jobel, you are very kind.

  • Hey there,

thanks so much for the responses. I tried changing the Z of the character instead, but it didn't work (see below capx).

That sounds like a great way to do it Not quite sure how to implement that though. Any tips?

Sorry for being such a pain.

    Keep well.

  • Hi Bruno,

Thanks for the response! I think your example could perhaps work but the problem is when there are two background objects overlapping so it is hard to tell.

I'd still be grateful to see if it does work, I've not got a clue about a fix :/

    Thanks again,

    take care.

  • Hi, thanks for the reply.

I made a little capx. to try and explain better. If you move the player to the bottom the error occurs.

I'm not sure if there is any good, simplish way to do this.

I hope this explains the problem a bit better.

    Thank you for the help,

    Keep well.

  • I'm making a top down rpg kind of game and I'm having a problem with objects moving in front of others when they are moved behind the player.

I have a family of objects that move behind the player when the player's Y is greater than the object's Y

the problem is the objects in the family don't change on the Z order relative to each other so they move in front of objects they shouldn't.

In the picture both the arm chair and the little table are in the "behindinfront" family.

I hope this makes sense, it's a bit difficult to explain. I'd be very grateful for any suggestions as I'm at my wit's end.

    Thank you kindly,

    Keep well,

    Jack

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • I'm having the same problem as above, posted by MagicTofu. I'd love to be able to make .exes for Mac so I was a bit disappointed when such an error arose.

  • Jack,

I've made a few games using other engines but drifted towards C2.

    Looking forward to learning it.

I have the - rather ambitious - aspiration to make a point and click game or an rpg but that might take some time.
