  • is there a way to have a sprite with the sine movement (moving horizontally/vertically) and set that objects X/Y to another object without compromising the sine wave?

sort of like this: on every tick - set sprite1 to sprite2+sprite1 sine wave

no matter what i try i end up with the object getting stuck to the X/Y of the target without seeing the sine wave since the object gets set to its new X/Y coordinate on every tick... i think?

Block Steady is a tough platformer where the objective is to be the only block left on screen.

Play it and please take a moment to rate it as well!

    Tough weekend!

  • when I run my game in any browser it goes black and doesn't play. I read up on this and it says this is normal but shouldn't be an issue when the game has been published. now that it is, can someone please tell me what i'm missing?

  • I've just finished my game for the GMTK2019 gamejam but the game just shows as a black blank screen...

I have exported the game with construct, put it in a zip file and uploaded it to ich.io

    what am i missing?

  • that worked perfectly! thanks a lot!

  • I'm working on a game where lots of differently sized objects constantly overlap one another, so something that occurs often is that small objects get hidden underneath the larger ones. I thought i would group them all up, take their width and send the smaller ones to the front of the bigger ones.

It seems pick by Nth instance is what I should be using but I can't make it work no matter what I try.

    Any ideas?

  • Thank you, that worked perfectly!

  • Hello!

I've been struggling to wrap my head around LayerToCanvas and CanvasToLayer, how they work and how to use them. I've managed to hunt down a few examples that were both great but I couldn't take much away from them and still don't fundamentally understand how they are supposed to function.

I have a simple setup in mind:

    1) A sprite spawns an explosion on a standard layer that scrolls rapidly with a 100% parallax rate

    2) The explosion immediately becomes attached to the top layer which has 0% parallax

The intended outcome should be an explosion that doesn't scroll with the camera.

If anyone can help with this I'd be very grateful.

  • Thank you both! I think PhoneGap will be my first try, it seems straight forward enough.

  • So, everywhere I look on how to build a mobile game, it seems I need to use Intel XDK. Intel XDK has been discontinued for over a year. What do you guys use as an alternative?

  • Dalal, that worked beautifully, and much less complicated than i had anticipated! thank you so much!

Kali, i'm gonna check that plugin out, thanks for the tip!

  • thanks for the quick reply! when you write math, time, e, etc. in the formula, what is this referring to? is it a valid expression or do i need some plugin?
