  • That was pretty impressive, I really like the main character. My fav animation was the running jump.

Graphically its awesome, technically there is a couple of movement bugs. If you hold X and do a running jump and let go of the up arrow while jumping - when he lands he is no longer running despite the fact you are holding x.

  • I missed this one, thanks for sharing Haematite. Im sure it will be helpful for me in the future.

  • Nice work Geo, I like that you can access the other episodes from each game.

The difficulty in this episode ramps a little too slowly for me. I think if you made your enemies move a bit (instead of staying static) not only would it increase the difficultly but it would give a bit of life to your game as well.

The dialogue between Jim and his nemesis reminds me of Metroman, they seem to have more fun jesting than actually shooting each other down (which is fun). It would be nice if there was some faces to go with the dialogue (since this episode seems to be more story driven).

Episode 2 i still my fav - but its really good that you are trying new things. As always good job and best of luck in Kongregate Geo.

  • Excellent, for your audience you have done a really nice job - the artwork is fantastic.

You might want to consider changing your music to something that children might identify with a bit more. Something simple - maybe even something they can sing along with.

The only other suggestion is to add the sounds of the animals when you open their door.

Really good job, I hope you do well.

  • Hey guys,

Last night I was mucking around with the particles properties and I noticed that when I made a change (for instance change the speed from 200 to 400) it prompted me to save. Once saved, if you hit undo it doesnt then prompt you to save again - infact you cant save it at all unless you save it to a new file location.

    dl.dropbox.com/u/13312935/undosaving.capx

    The steps are,

    1. Change a property of the particles

    2. Save

    3. Hit Ctrl z

    4. Notice you cannot save now

I apologise if this has already been fixed in the last couple of versions, Ive been using the latest stable build.

  • Constant 60fps, but i have a decent computer as well.

There is a tool floating around here that Ashley made to check if your video card has up to date graphics drivers (sorry I dont have the link at hand).

Your game doesnt look very demanding, so im inclined to think its a driver issue, especially if they are older computers. (Still thats just a guess).

  • Wow, thanks for that Epox.

    Definately increased my understanding :)

It would be really nice to have some prelisten functions in c2, to be able to preview and adjust how your sound will come out at different qualities. For now though Audacity served me well for that.

I would also love to see that tutorial + any other tips you have regarding sounds.

  • Oh, how could i forget, Anthony Kojimas' "This is cute" game definately qualifies as an Rpg! Albeit a small one but it has the dialogue, questing, item management etc.

  • Cheers Squid,

I did end up deciding to go with 1-2 min loops instead of breaking them up. I just hope there isnt issues with streaming.

  • Thats good to hear,

Haha yeah i know what you mean, on the forunate side (in my experience anyway) persistence is often rewarded :)

Looking forward to seeing this platformer.

  • Here is some food for thought, not sure how helpful it will be.

Ok, so when you disable platform behaviour jump is disabled because it is a part of that behaviour 'Unless' you give your player a custom made movement not tied to the platform behaviour.

Or, how about giving your player a bunch of variables like; "Ismoving" , "IsJumping" etc. That way (when your player is moving) you move you could set your variable to "Ismoving = 1" and then set it back to "0" when the movement is finished.

All you need to do then is add a condition to the movement action that "Ismoving" must equal 0 for the movement to occur.

  • Super well made dude. It's sooo impressive. This is great!

Now I thinking of taking a blue or red pill...

    Remember, ignorance is bliss :)

This is awesome, thanks for sharing it!

  • Im loving the spin aswell :)

Seems like you have a good base for building platformers now, who know you might come back to it even if it does get abandoned for now.

    As the game stands now, the plus;

Very smooth, Simple enough that you can effectively play it without instructions, stage is simple but thought out, pretty fun!

    Crit;

Some of the colours clash - personally i found the characters didnt stand out from the background as much as they could (Should be noted I have a bit of colour-blindness, so others might not agree with me).

Showing a lot of potential, keep up the good work.

  • Thanks for the update. Good to know!

  • Ah ok I see what you mean now re no.1 :)

I must have read it too fast, I thought you were talking about something else.
