  • Huge fan of Minecraft, avid player & enthusiast

Right now the single player game is having some performance issues, it usually runs way faster and without the stuttering we're experiencing.

  • May I annoy everybody again with two minor bugs that are present since .62, and no matter how many times I report it, they always go unnoticed?

    • Using CUT (Ctrl-X) doesn't delete the object and move it to the clipboard. It is working as a COPY (the object moves to the clipboard, but also stays on the layout).
    • If I rename the name of a player control (after clicking on "Manage Controls: ADD/EDIT"), the name doesn't change on that dialog - but if I click OK it will be changed.

I'd love to see them wiped from 1.0!

    • Team collaboration
    • Multiplatform
    • Better instance picking

I believe these are the best options to make Construct 2 better than C1. The other features are of course needed, and some improvements to the very core are already scheduled, right? Man, this will be so awesome!

From an educational point of view, I'd love to see the Multilingual UI - I know it's the less voted feature so far, but I don't see why it shouldn't be included in C2: It should be easy to design this in the beginning of the project. With the capability of being translated, I can see construct being used in schools for younger children around the world and... I don't know, it sounds terrific.

As for the Multiplatform, I totally agree with Ash. Of course, most gamers use Windows, so it should be the "official" platform. And for the other platform, I'm thinking MacOS. With the Steam support, Intel processors and Wine, the OS has seen an increase in game releases, so I think it would be the better option. What do you guys plan on doing: Making Construct run on both platforms, or making it run only on windows and creating a game export for other platforms?

  • Hi Karl

Hey, nice to know you got things structured! Why don't you post it for us?

Like I said before, I think this would be a nice way to gather more people to your project!

As for help, I don't think I'd be good for developing on Construct. I got spare time (I'm unemployed, in another country, with very few people I know

So if you want help, feedback or suggestions on anything, just let me know. I'd be glad to help!

  • I won't help!

What I can do is help you define your workflow, review your documents, propose ideas...

Usually when people come in here asking for help they have a lot in mind, but just a few things on paper. And since we can't read their minds, the users demand more info on your project, anything visual or interactive to help them understand what the project is up to.

Of course, having previous experience, released games or prototypes, a blog, or anything related to games helps a lot when convincing people that yes, this project will be a kick ass thing and everybody should be working together.

For me, the best thing you should do now is develop a GDD (Game Design Document), and organize all the ideas you want to put in the game, in a very detailed way. Write the avaliable item, what does what, how many characters, write the story, maybe a few of the dialogues... Design a sketch of the interface, a flowchart of every screen... And then proceed to actually making the game.

And since you stated this is a free game, when you have the GDD, post it in here. Don't waste your time hiding your thoughts, because it will only make people ignore your project. Show it to us!

If it's truly awesome as you say it is (and I'm not using any sarcasm here), people will gather up!

Also, posting Filezilla screenshots to prove that you have a few .exes won't work. Let us play!

You said it is a free game, so there's no need to hide your contents! Also, people in here are used to test shitty prototypes, with bad graphics. And a lot of them evolved into beautiful games. Of course there will be trollers, eventually, but just ignore it and don't let it get to you.

Anyway, I can help you organize your thoughts and create a consistent GDD. With it you'll even be able to precise how many people will be needed to make the game, and I'm pretty sure everybody will be pleased to read it and feel more inclined to help in anyway they can.

    So, what do you say?

  • Oh yeah, another thing: A better animation system, that can reuse frames when repeating/flipping/rotating frames (similar to Playfirst's Playground engine and GBA/DS softwares).

I think I posted something around the forums, more than a year ago, about it!

    EDIT

    Here it is:

I think it would be a nice improvement

  • Being able to work and publish to PC, Mac and Linux (dare I say iPhone?! )

If there was only one change between latest build and C2, I'd support this!

  • Even though I've been a bit away from Construct (planning a huge comeback, though!), thanks a lot for this version! You guys rock!

  • Yeah, this is way better than .62, and as stable as well!

  • Bah, my poor skills aren't helping...

Is there any way we can get a non-install version to test?

  • I'm new to the mac world but I'll try to experiment on Wine or those other PC things this weekend.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Also being picky about small things...

I reported this a long time ago, but since .62 it's broken:

    • Using CUT (Ctrl-X) doesn't delete the object and move it to the clipboard. It is working as a COPY (the object moves to the clipboard, but also stays on the layout).

And another thing I reported that is there - again, pretty minor, but still annoying:

    • If I rename the name of a player control (after clicking on "Manage Controls: ADD/EDIT"), the name doesn't change on that dialog - but if I click OK it will be changed.
  • I'm having problem with this as well.

I managed to set display resolution, then zoom in. But no matter how hard I try, I cannot reach the border of my layout (I have a sprite with "scroll to X and Y").

Of course I can turn unbounded scrolling to do this, but I'd like to come up with a clean solution to that

Do you guys know what's going on?

    EDIT:

Ok, I found this... Looks like I have to go with the Unbounded Scrolling anyway...

  • Can you guys port it to MacOS?!

    Just kidding!

Can't wait to go back to work and test this!

  • UEPA!

    Brasileiro aqui tambm!

Well, now I'm working in Argentina (ouch!)
