  • I am going to create an in-game menu in the form of a separate layer so on start of layout, set layer invisible then on pressing the 'pause' button, set layer visible etc etc

However, instead of having to recreate the same layer and all the objects that go with it, over and over again for all of my levels, is it possible to give the one layer a name and call it to the front of the current layout?

Or if I am going about this in completely the wrong way, can anyone give me any suggestions please?

  • Any idea if this would work on a mobile device? I mean as an app, rather than in viewed in a mobile browser. If no one knows I'll test later and report back.

  • Thank you for letting me know, I've spent so much time researching phonegap and appmobi and reading up on here to try and fix it. Now I know to just save my time and wait for the bug fix, whenever ever this may be :)

  • I've really enjoyed using C2 and am well into making my first game for Android. Speed varies from device to device but so far so good. I export using phonegap as I feel the speed is abit quicker and I can easily hide the notification bar which is an issue with appmobi as far as I am aware. But thats just me. I'm sure other prefer appmobi.

My only issue is I've been struggling to get my app to support multiple screen sizes. I've seen and the tutorials on supporting multiple screen sizes but I just can't get it. My project is set at 800x480 and works fine on my friends Samsung GSII, fits perfect. However, on my Xperia Play the screen is short and the game repeats itself to fill the gap, displaying a 'tiling' effect. I've set crop mode, scale mode etc etc and still no fix.

I'm wondering if I need to change the default size of my project before exporting?

  • I'm having the issue with Phonegap where my game looks tiled. It is set to 800*480 in C2 but I have the project set to fullscreen scale mode anyway. Then when I run it on my phone, at the right side of my game there is a gap where the game seems to repeat itself, like a tiled image.

Anyone have this with theres? And/or know a solution?

    Edit*

Also on a side note, adding the following to the xml exported with phonegap will remove the status bar. Would be a nice option to include when exporting instead of having to edit and update the xml each time I export it:

    <preference name="fullscreen" value="true" />

  • Thank you, works great, that's all I needed!

When exporting your project from C2 are you setting it as fullscreen (crop mode) or fullscreen (scale mode)? I'm having the problem where it looks great in the appMobi emulator but is stretched and won't fit the screen when actually played on my phone.

  • Bert I think I'm having the same problem as you. Can you dumb it down for me please and explain exactly how u did it? Maybe just copy and paste the section of the html rather than just typing up the command. Would be a big help.

  • I was wondering this also. I've looked at editing the html file to lock the orientation and I've googled ways to set it to landscape but I've not managed to find anything.

Also on a side note, the preview looks and plays perfect on AppMobi but the end result apk on my phone is zoomed in and the screen doesn't fit.

  • I am also very interested in this. My primary reason for using C2 is to make mobile apps so this will be a big step.

  • Not having much luck with AppMobi. I've got the apk built and installed but its stretched so much I can't see the whole screen and it's running ridiculously slow. I've seen comments on here about how AppMobi increases performance so I must be going wrong somewhere.

  • Ye it's a bit hit and miss with the speed. I have an Xperia Play which sometimes will play it fullspeed, other times its really laggy.

I've tested it on my friends Galaxy SII which has better results, a more consistent frame rate.

I'll try to compile with AppMobi and see if the speed improves. Then I'll follow up with an update to include sound.

    Thanks for the feedback :)

  • This version was done with PhoneGap but I want to add sounds so think I'm going to try get AppMobi up and running soon enough.

Thanks for reporting back though. Much appreciated.

Also, if anyone has played it can you let me know what you thought please. Surely balsh isn't the only one to have played it.

    Thanks again

  • Oh, of course lol... Bare with me 2 minutes.

  • Ok so after all my questions on the forum I finally have something playable. With auto-save function for the levels you unlock as you play, allowing you to resume from where you left off.

Would be interested to see what everyone thinks. Report any bugs etc. Would be much appreciated!

So here it is... Ball Boy.

Aim of the game is to reunite the boy with his ball. Tap the screen to send the ball on it's way.

The level design needs improving on some levels and I will be adding more levels in the future. So if you have a minute, take a look please.
