  • I like it, reminds me of bit trip runner so I'm struggling to think of suggestions that aren't just things from bit trip. found a glitch a couple of times where I seemed to go off the top of the screen when going up hill.

Gotta disagree with CoffeOD, I kinda like the dash mechanic. Feels like when anime characters move really fast and just disappear and appear somewhere else (top pf my head I've seen it in Dragonball Z, Naruto and Bleach). What with the shuriken you could play on the ninja thing. Maybe use the dash as some kind of special attack, or have unbreakable walls that you can dash through

    Cool game, keep it up!

  • looking really good. I may have found a bug tho, First time I tried level 1 I got one star (the left on) second time I got one star again but it was the far right star.... ? dunno if I was meant to get three stars or something.

The only other thing I'd suggest is that when using keyboard controls for gameplay, I like to be able to navigate the UI as well. I kinda expect to be able to go to the next level with the shoot button or right arrow. Otherwise it means switching back and forth between keyboard and mouse

Regardless, this game is looking promising!

  • standing alone, until

  • Well it's like frogger in as much as you have to run a kind of gauntlet of moving objects that hurt you. I made it for the onegameamonth challenge and was really just wanting to build and complete my first game and to have it played by some people, to build my confidence and experience that I might move on to bigger projects. I had a lot of fun making it and learnt a lot. I'll admit I didn't put much effort into graphics or gameplay so those areas and writing will be the concentration of my next project I think.

Have a go please and let me know what you think.

  • I've had trouble with some similar problems with this and I know how frustrating it can be. I really can't follow what you're trying to do in the event sheet. But I feel the algorithm should be:

    • When a tile is dropped on the water
    • - If there is another tile on the water, then check if they have the same frame number
    • - - if they have the same frame numbers, destroy both tiles

I find a problem I've had many times in construct when using multiple instances of the same object, you need a way in the event sheet to specify which instances of the object need to perform actions. I'd recommend having a look at this tutorial:

  • i shall have a read. i'm having a hard time taking that first game leap. i just seem to keep prototyping and learning different techniques rather than just put something together and publish

  • ebrar the easiest way the add content is probably to put a blog on there. you could keep visitors up to date with what you're making, let people know how development is going and things like that. maybe share video game development related links you find (i think this will also help from a SEO point of view making your site easier to find on google). i dunno, what is it you really want to get out of this site?

  • ebrar depends of what you want the site to be. If you are just wanting to have a place to link to and have people see your game then fine. But if you to show off to potential employers or something like that than you might want to say a bit more about yourself.

the minimal design is good, but so far the content is minimal too, you could keep the look of it but have more for visitors to do and read

  • yes definitely minimalist. maybe a little to minimal.

  • dynasty warriors has been using chinese meat buns as a health pickup for years. pretty much the same thing.

    people can interpret all sorts of things as racist, so be careful how you express why he's eating chilli;

if he eats chilli cus he's mexican and all mexans like chilli, then that's a stereotype which is a bit racist

if he eats chilli cus he likes it and/or it gives him some special power like fire breath or something then that's a character (ie an individual not a sterotype) and i'd have no problem with it

  • rabidsheep glad to help. let me know if you have a go at fixing it and i can test it on my end

  • tiny is very cute, i like him and the fluffy enemies are nice too. i had a similar glitch as kuso with regards to how the enemies move. on the first level the enemies got stuck in a corner and stopped moving anywhere.

i'm not very good at this game. i fell like i'd like some powers to use against the enemies, maybe not killing them (that'd make it too easy) but maybe you could stun them for a few seconds, just so you're doing a little more than dodging them

  • awesome. i like the mechacat! the jump sound is lovely, makes it feel all spacey... lovely visual style too

one problem tho, i may have found a glitch with my browser as there is scroll bars at the side and bottom of the game. when you press left or right to move, the game scrolls left or right. only by a few pixels. i'm using chrome on windows 8 if it helps

  • very good. but on the test, i didn't know straight away whether i had gotten it correct. i see now that it goes left for correct or right for false, could use a tick/cross display or some text or audio feedback.

also you know what would be cool but a lot of work, if you could play the pronunciation of the characters in learn mode

  • kinda hypnotic. got the high score but couldn't find a way to submit. oh well
