• Very nice - thanks!

  • thehen - thanks for checking it out - I've set the game to pause in snap view now. Hopefully that is what those guys meant by 'instability issues'.

Wow, if that's the case that's probably one of the worst red herrings I've ever seen in a defect report. In fact that is one of the poorest, vaguest, laziest defect reports I've ever seen.

We should send them to the Scirra bug forums to see how it should be done!

  • thehen - you are the coolest - thanks! I'll pm you a link in just a moment...

  • Hi Guys,

I've submitted a game to the win store, which has been rejected twice because the testers were dissatisfied about the snapped view. Bizarrely, I used the same default snapped view that I used for my previous game.

I also noticed they picked up on a few other things that they completely ignored for my last game.

Anyone else getting these annoying issues with MS now? I guess it's possible I've had the misfortune of getting a particularly retentive tester :/

Sadly, this means I miss out for the Win8 compo, but ah well them's the breaks.

    EH

p.s. Here's the most recent suitably vague report - no definition of "instability"

    Notes from Testers:

A:: When reviewing the app, our reviewers observed instability issues when using snapped views with this app. More information on snapped views can be found here: msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/hh465371.aspx

  • Ha I actually thought the aurora one look nice like Carl im interested in your rates. I've definitely got work in the pipeline

  • My vote is for top down zombies with animations ... brainszzz!!!

  • This looks pretty interesting. So are the assets that are there everything at the moment? Or is there more?

What's on the road map for the next set of sprites?

  • benhigg - I released my game Battleship Islands around the win8 launch date, so have had a few downloads - around 40k+ when I last checked. However the conversion rate is totally abysmal - around 0.07% or something like that per day. I'm still pretty new to all this so I'm guessing I haven't monetized the game properly, which is something im studying currently. I've also been advised to look into IGAs which might generate some additional income.

Then again it may also be a possibility that the win store isn't as lucrative as the ios app store? I don't really know without proper data. Id be quite interested to know how big name games like angry birds or jet pack joyride are doing.

  • Ashley - Sure, will do. I've been hanging around on the last stable release (108.2) for a bit, but it looks like the latest release has lots of fixes/stabilization

  • Yeah I've had this quite a bit as well - I think yesterday it crashed randomly about 7-8 times in total (worked a 10 hour day with it), also mostly when I was doing stuff with the image editor. I'll try to pinpoint the exact cause as well.

  • First of all, well done for making it on Steam Greenlight! I'll be interested to know how your journey goes!

Secondly, there are some pretty affordable artists around the place. There is an ongoing thread somewhere (I beleive RandomExile posted it up) with sites. I personally have had a good experience using elance before, and it didn't cost an arm and a leg.

As with the other guys above, the graphics are your first impression, so if they are underwhelming, people won't be interested. IMHO your graphics are nice and simple, but they are still dev art which will risk giving your game an amateurish look.

  • Nice work! This game has it's own unique beautiful look much like Angry birds!

In terms of performance from my Surface RT, it plays ok. We've had this discussion before - Win 8 ARM devices usually play appallingly with JS games, so it's not too bad still playable.

For a physics game it does get tricky to play when there's a bit going on, but it feels like it is playing normally at about 14-18 fps at a guess.

In any event, I've given you a rave review and 5* rating

  • Thanks Kyatric

  • How's your journey going Geo? It's great to see things are going well. I'm on the same journey too, trying to learn all about In Game Ads, F2P models, etc. etc.. There is so much stuff to learn outside of making the game itself - kind of annoying but kind of necessary I guess.

  • Hey All, out of curiosity, has anyone made decent money with C2 yet? I'm sure it's possible - I'd love to hear about it and get some inspiration!
