  • That was the missing link.

I was using the patch selection tool to draw a tiles from the tilemap, but I for some reason, I couldn't select tiles in the tilemap.

    Thank you.

  • I created my level, now I realize I need to make some space and have to move a bunch of tiles. I am pretty sure deleting each tile and re-draw it at the new position is not the right way?

  • Using a separate layout for any object's initial state is the only real way around this limitation.

I think, I got it. So for my case, I create a new empty instance of my tilemap on my "parking lot" and use it from there. Means, i have to redo the collision settings onence again, I guess.

    Thank you.

    EDIT: Yep, that did it.

  • Easiest solution is to just copy a blank instance of the tilemap, rather than the populated instance from your game layout.

Hmmm.. I simply drag the tilemap from the project explorer

I recently started this with some object i use globally as I have seen this in some tutorials.

  • Stupid question, but I have a tilemap object placed on my first level. Now I want to re-use it on my others levels, so I place the tilemap object into my second (third, fourth) layout and it always has

    a) the dimensions of the first instance on level 1

    b) the content / layout of the the first level

Before I can start to design a new level, I have to clear all tiles first, which is a tedious job, as there's no selection tool to selected multipe tiles in the layout and delete / move them.

  • Thanks, that was exactly what I was looking for.

    Works like a charm!

    Thank you,

    Heiko

  • Hi all.

I recently started (again) with Construct (now 3) but never got anywhere due to lack of time (a dayjob can ruin a life 😂)

Question: How do I re-use design- / layout element over multiple layout/screens? Escpecially the HUD?

I obv don't want to recreate the HUD for every level I design.

Same here, I bought C2 after the announcement of C3 for Mac (currently running it in a VM). I thought the blog post and announcement was made because some decent work on C3 has already been done (otherwise spoiling customers would automatically kill the sales on the current product and might not recover).

I understand that Ashley is now getting tired of all the poeple asking for C3 now, but he's a business owner and has to face this challenge now. If the work on C3 is progressing, then posting some screenshots of the work in progress would give the crowd more confidence. For the moment, after two years on the announcement, Construct 3 could be considered as Vapor Ware.

  • Right, That's a bit confusing some times in the beginning, as some objects like function, touch or web are only added once.

(In my case, it was simply a corrupt installation. I deleted - somehow - with an update some folders)

  • I also noticed that C2 lost the path to my licence, but adding it again didn't change anything.

(I am running C2 in a dedicated Windows 8.1 VM on my Mac no other applications, no updates)

Just do add: on projects who use the Function Object, the object is not displayed under "Objects" but under "Object Types" in the Project Navigator. After clicking the Function-Object in the Project Navigator, it appears in the Objects palette.

  • Problem Description

After upgrading to 216, I can no longer insert Function objects. However, existing projects still run. I deleted all external behaviors and plugins, later then also C2. No luck, the Function is missing:

  • XpMonster: that looks awesome.

  • I like the idea. It's more object oriented. Stencyl uses this concept as well: you have events (event sheets) for actors (Objects) and for the scenes (= layouts).

  • I am running it on my Mac within Parallels / Windows 8.1 and it works perfectly. Parallels is very tight integrated into Mac OS, so it won't hurt your workflow if you mainly use Mac Apps.

I've tried Virtual Box also, it's free but not so nice integrated into Mac OS.
