  • Make sure the bullet image is aligned properly in the animation editor. The default orientation for all sprites in Construct is 0 degrees, which means they should be facing right or "East".

If this doesn't help, please share your project file or a screenshot of the event sheet.

  • So...how do I find the mouse position so I can start working this out?

    Have you tried the manual?

    construct.net/en/make-games/manuals/construct-3/plugin-reference/mouse

You can save Mouse.x and Mouse.y when an object is clicked in a pair of variables (global/local or instance). Then on every tick compare the distance and angle between the saved and new position of mouse cursor. Use distance() and angle() expressions.

Say, if the distance is >50px and the angle is between 150 and 210 degrees, you can assume that this is a "left swipe".

Another option is to use the Touch plugin instead. It already has Touch.SpeedAt and Touch.AngleAt expressions which can be used to easily detect swipes. And it's compatible with mouse.

  • You should still be able to export your game in C2 in html5 and upload it to websites.

You can also open C2 project in Construct 3, it does support the old "Function" object. And it will be possible to convert C2 functions to C3 functions.

  • When stuck, check the manual:

    construct.net/en/make-games/manuals/construct-3/plugin-reference/nw-js

You can't read files like that. Use NWJS.ReadFile expression:

Dictionary load from JSON string NWJS.ReadFile(path_to_the_file)

But first you probably need to check if the file exists using NWJS Path Exists condition.

And definitely don't do this on every tick!

  • Import a new audio file with a different name, then update it in all events. Then delete the old file. Unfortunately, there is no other way.

This is one of the reasons it's better to create a function to play sounds. Then instead of playing an audio file directly, you call a function with the file name.

  • Well, don't use Physics with Solid and DragNDrop behaviors - they are not compatible.

    See the official manual:

    construct.net/en/make-games/manuals/construct-3/behavior-reference/physics

  • You need to share your project file. Or at least a screenshot of the code.

  • Use "NWJS Write Text File" action.

    Path: your selected path

    Contents: Dictionary.AsJSON

  • Yeah, there must be some other event that changes the sprite position then. Perhaps "Pirate on created"?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • To associate an event sheet with the layout, select it in layout properties (on the left panel). You can also include other event sheets:

    construct.net/en/make-games/manuals/construct-3/project-primitives/events/includes

  • Scenic Route Can you show a screenshot of the event sheet, or share your project?

  • Are you using Browser Download action? Then it will use browser settings.

In desktop export you need to use NWJS Write file action. Then you can either ask the players where they want to save, or save to a pre-defined location, like "My Documents" folder.

  • It may be a difficult task to make a smart AI that can deflect multiple balls.

You can try a simple method first:

On every tick pick ball instance nearest to the (player.x, player.y), move player to ball.x

    .

Also, you don't need a family. You can add multiple instances of the same Ball sprite.

  • Yeah, good thinking - if trying to open an old project in an old C3 version gives the same error, then the most plausible explanation is an invalid addon.
