  • Ok, so I know that the subject sounds incredibly dumb, but I couldn't fit exactly what I needed help with into a few words...

What I really need help with is finding out how to make an invisible button (or sprite that acts as a button) that has an event triggered every so many seconds that the button/sprite is being held down. Specifically, I'm making a side-scrolling airplane/dogfight game, and I want it to be playable on mobile devices. I already have it so that the start screen can tell whether to load in the mobile or keyboard layout for the full game, but I can't figure out the controls. I tried making blank sprites that scrolled with the view of the player (one on the bottom, one on top) for movement (up and down), and then making a sprite that acted as a "fire" button. I then used "System - Every tick + Touch - Is touching (Sprite) > Player - Move 5 pixels at angle 90", which is what I had for the keyboard, but replacing the arrow key with "Touch - Is touching (Sprite)". I also did basically the same thing for the "fire" button sprite; but none of the "button-sprites" worked on my mobile device. I then thought that maybe conventional Button objects might work, but when going to place the condition for it, I realized that there was no "Is holding down" on the button...

If anyone has any ideas please share them with me, as I accept that my event "coding" may have been off, or that i just haven't thought of everything. I'm sure this is a common problem, so someone should probably see this and have a simple solution.

    Thanks -

    Did all that just now...

Tried to open Construct 2 and:

Unable to load plugin in 'C:\Program Files\Construct

    2\exporters\html5\plugins\Q3D\': Cannot open file 'C:\Program

    Files\Construct 2\exporters\html5\plugins\Q3D\common.js'

This plugin will not be available in the editor.

(Sorry I haven't responded in a couple days.)

    Ermm...

Where would I find the plugin files on their own?

Honestly I'm not very familiar with running third party programs, so I'm pretty friggin confused...

  • Check the manual. It doesn't cover all the capabilities but it should familiarize you with basics.

Well I was thinking more of how to actually use the plugin. Like when I open Construct 2 it doesn't have any of the Q3D things such as 3D sprites, etc.

  • So I've gone and bought the plugin, but how do I get started using it?

  • Oh yeah and Cassiano and randomly, I figured out how to get my license. The website has an option to download it as a txt file. Then you just open it with Construct and voila.

  • Thanks. Will check that out, and post that license thingy under C2 general.

  • So I'm making this dog fighting (airplanes not dogs ), and I would like to add a feature that could allow more than just single kills to get points. I have thought of a couple ideas, like a "No Shots Fired"(get points only by causing enemies to take each other down) bonus at the end of the game, but I really want one that could score you a couple bonus points during the game.

What I have thought of for this is a way to score double kills, or multiple kills in a short period of time. So the what I thought I could do is add an instance variable for kills, and a global var for double kills (global just so I can add it to the final score layout). Buuuut... I couldn't find a way to track every time a value of 2 is added to kills in 1.5 seconds (trust me there's so many AI that spawn it wouldn't be toooo hard in this time period).

If anyone could help me out with this t hat would be amazing!

    Thanks in advance,

    Justus

P.S- Lol, also, does anyone know if you can get an old license back from a dead laptop?
