Image size doesn't matter because construct resaves the images as png's. Textures use vram so it's not a great idea to use huge images. As a rule of thumb, you should always strive to use the smallest power of two image size as you can.
Go with C1. There's tons to learn. There's nothing different about C2 really.

Interesting, I think I remember seeing one broken like that once too. It seems to be a common way for bike sprockets to break.
"qarp" and "cubic" expressions can do this. It's a bit more complicated than just setting the bias value though. If you want to control it with a bias variable you'll have to map it to one of the bezier control points yourself.

Custom movement. It's hands down the best/most versatile behavior. Platformer is great too, but not such a priority atm.
