  • Hello All!

My first C2 game is now published.

I would really appreciate if some of you guys here would take the time to try it and rate it. Rating it is important for the game to appear in popular sections.

I'll gladly do the same for you, feedback is always important! <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile">

Please rate it, game that got rating below 3.5 are not shown on the "New Games" pages and it's pretty sad considering there is some games way simplier than mine in this section this month. :/

  • Because I have some issues preloading sounds in Firefox and Chrome but those same sounds are ok in Internet Explorer and Safari on iOS.

Some people that are trying my beta game are having just 1 or 2 preloaded sounds out of 6, it's like their connection didn't downloaded them quickly enough.

I'm using "All preloads complete" for every sounds, by using a variable to preload ONE sound at a time but...still, no success.

    Thanks in advance.

In fact, a "Preload Complete" condition for individual sound could have been great, instead of just one "All preloads complete"...or did I miss something?

Or a way to evaluate if the sound file was completely downloaded via expressions.

  • Thanks for the reply!

Workarounds? I want to, as an example, make a "clickable url link" if a text box contains a url.

I tried to think about it...by using tokenat or find I can detect if a part of text is there...and I can detect a click on a whole text object but not on a part of it...and I don't want to separate my text objects into one for every word...

  • Can I do this?

...detect wich word is clicked/touched Inside a text object containing many words?

I didn't manage to find how to do this so far, read all the documentation about the text object and searched the Forum too...

    Many thanks.

  • Ok, thanks a lot Ahsley! Like I said, it worked fine 2 or 3 versions ago and not before. But, yeah, Safari, especially on iOS have some rules of its own.

BTW, just a little detail, on iOS, for text box, the "spell check" is still working even if we set it to off in Construct.

    Many thanks!

P.S.: Oh, yeah, I replied to a closed bug thread but it was just for a small snippet of info, nothing that really need investigation.

  • Problem Description

The game does not reposition itself correctly after using the keyboard and closing it on iOS (tested on iPad 4 and iPod Touch 4) if the text box is in the lower part of the screen. It worked fine 2 or 3 stables releases ago (but was a problem some time ago before that too, sorry I don't have the number of the well-working release). : /

    Attach a Capx

    [attachment=0:31krjbgm]TestTextBoxKeybiOS.capx[/attachment:31krjbgm]

You can try it online here: http://www.jeuxid.com/TestTextBoxiPad/

    Description of Capx

Just a new project with 2 text box, one in the upper part another one in the lower part. With 2 colored bars at the top of bottom to show that the screen does not replace itself precisely after using/closing the keyboard on iOS.

    Steps to Reproduce Bug

    • Step 1: Touch the lower text box on an iPad, type something and then close the keyboard with the lower-right button on the on-screen keyboard.

    Observed Result

The screen acts strangely when I type, resizing itself after each char sometimes, and when I close the keyboard the higher part of the game is out of the screen area, the game is now 10-20 pixels higher on screen than before using the keyboard, leaving a black gap at the bottom and cutting the upper part of the game

    Expected Result

The game should stay on-screen when I'm using the keyboard on iPad and not leave any gap after closing the keyboard.

  • Hi Ashley and/or Tom!

Just a quick question, you added a new "Scroll to bottom" action in the latest beta release (for multiplayer chat) for text box (area).

Could this action be added to the standard TEXT object too? It would be useful since this object is more easily customizabled and is not always on top.

    Thanks for your work!

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • I'm pretty sure those games use the "suspended/resumed" action to reconnect/refresh the info in the game like the time and all...

Sadly like I said in another psot those actions don't work in iOS brwoser-based games, I tested them, worked in IE and Firefox but not in iOS (Safari)... : (

  • You must use the "AJAX" object...

I'm not sure CocoonJD supports it...

With the AJAX you do a "post" that send the information in a "cgi" file that you code, by using something like cfm or php, wich will receive your variables and send them into a xml file or database...

That's the only way I know...

  • Is not there a "pin" behavior for this? Search for it in the manual, pretty sure it's can resolve your problem. ...no?

  • I tried the "on suspended" and "on resumed" with a simple textbox that set the text to "suspended" and "resumed" and it's works fine on IE and Firefox but not on iOS in Safari. :(

It would be really cool if Ash or anyone from the Scirra Team found a way to make it work in a future build! :)

Is there any other way to detects this, maybe something clever like getting the system time of the used app and comparing it with the time one second ago every second...?

    Thanks.

  • NorrinRadd:

Thanks for replying to this thread and let people know I'm not alone with this problem!   :)

Another solution to put the canvas back to his original position is to touch the black status bar at the top of iOS (with the houre at his center).

So an inelegant solution would be to display a message to the user if he is on iOS that says something like "Touche the black status bar at the top if you want to replace the screen"...my english is not perfect so...

The problem happens if the form object are not at the top of the screen so Ashley could retry with form objects at the center and at the bottom of the screen...

Thanks in advance to you, Ash and Tom.
