  • Thanks plinkie, but that doesnt answer the question. I know I can just put that straight in and get the angle.

    That was just an example.

Imagine both of them are 2 seperate strings:

    "Sprite3." is one string

    "Angle" is different string.

I want to know if it's possible to add the two strings together and for it to be read as an expression, not just a string.

  • Hi folks,

Can I convert a string to an expression?

    eg 'Set text to "Sprite3."&"Angle"'

and have it return the angle of Sprite3, NOT just the text

    Thanks in advance

ps the above example is not exactly what I want, just an example.

  • I run the Games Design courses at Nescot college, Surrey. UK. We use Construct 2 for our 2D engine of choice. The students love it. And so do I !

  • Thanks, but it doesn't do anything.

    Sad day.

ps Can you confirm this works for you ?

  • Thanks for the reply. I did try that but also it didn't work. This was almost certainly me doing something wrong. I don't suppose you have an example I could look at

    Thanks again

  • Hi,

Is there currently any way of my app accessing a .php page ( on a seperatley hosted server so cross domain IS an issue ) , retrieving a variable and using this in my project.

    Compiling in Cocoonjs.

I have tried and tried using varies snippets I found on the forums and failed.

If anyone has managed this in any way ( even in a bit of a hodge-podge way ) then I would be so grateful if you could show me how or provide an example.

For reasons I wont go into I dont want to use the clayIO sort of approach, as other things will be happening server side to change the variable(s)

    Thanks so much

  • Hi, I was just looking for opening a webpage in a new browser window ( is working after update to latest Beta of C2 )

What I really need is an example of how I can grab a variable from a webpage ( xml or php or whatever really ) - compiling in Cocoonjs.

  • Atleast for Ajax i am using the appMobi plugin's GET Remote Data to bypass the limitations...

Would you mind sharing how you do this. Thanks

  • ** The latest Beta version of Construct2 has fixed this problem ! **

    Hi Lanceal,

Do you have an example of the browser redirect working in Cocoonjs?

It just crashes to black screen for me.

    Thanks

    Hi ludei,

Will the next release fix the 'Browser' object problem of crashing to a black screen instead of going to the URL ?

    Thanks

    Danny

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Did anyone get this working ? I'm getting a blank screen instead of going to the URL

  • The Browser object's 'Open URL' action uses CocoonJS's open URL function when in CocoonJS.

    Neither the Browser object's:

    Go To URL

    or

    Open URL in New Window

seem to work. They just go to black screen

I have tried using the CocoonJS launcher, and also cloud compilation on 3 iOS decices ( iphone 3, 5 and iPad )

Has anyone else actually got this working?

    Thanks

  • I am trying to add my own gesture that I have recorded using your gesture creator, but I must be doing something wrong. When I try to paste it into the box within the 'Add a list of points as new gesture of type' action I get the following error : Syntax Error, Expression appears to end before here.

    Any advice?

    Thanks

    Danny

**EDIT** I hadn't put it in "" marks ! Sorted now. Works great !
