  • This is important for identifying users on the leaderboards. Seems like an oversight in the plugin as the other datafields are available already, so hopefully it's simple to add it!

  • No one? Maybe i'm asking the question wrong or not clear enough.

It seems like in Construct 2 addon SDK there is a SetAnimFrame function. I'm looking for that or something similar for C3?

  • Hi! I'm making a behavior using the runtime addon SDK. But i can't figure out how to set the animation frame of an instance. Couldn't find it in the docs. Any ideas on how to do this?

    Thanks!

  • Thanks for the answer Ashley. I can see why you made the decision.

One thing to consider with the iOS usage stats is that they are heavily skewed for different target groups. For example kids games are often played on older devices, iPads or a parents last phone.

We noticed that the sounds didn't play in the game on one ios11 device now (seems like it differs depending on the iOS 11 version). Do you think it would work if we would add the sounds as .MP3 files to the project instead?

    Thanks!

  • Hi! I'm wondering a bit about the decision to drop support for iOS versions before 12 (released sep 2018). What was the reasons behind this? For our latest game we override this in the Xcode project settings to at least support iOS11. After doing some testing it seems to work well, so we plan to release it like that.

We've looked at some statistics for our other games out on iOS and during the last 30 days about 40% of the product page views are coming from pre iOS12 versions. So it would significantly lower our chances of success to release it with iOS12 as minimum version.

Looking at featured games in the App Store it's very rare to see game that doesn't support a few iOS versions back. Unless it's an AR app for example.

I'm also wondering a bit on how your plan looks going forward with Construct3 for iOS. Is the plan to keep moving the minimum iOS target upwards when a new version is released? Or was this more of a necessity due to unfixable bugs in iOS11.

    Thanks!

  • Thanks! I think the getEntryPointData is only available after FBInstant.startGameAsync() resolves and not in FBInstant.initializeAsync(). But if that's where it's set in the plugin it might be something else.

    Thanks!

  • Hi!

We're trying to use the EntryPointData Expression to get a payload sent from a bot message, but it's always empty. We tried reading the entrypointdata directly by calling FBInstant.getEntryPointData() with a Execute Javascript call and that works like it should.

Has anyone gotten the EntryPointData Expression to work?

  • Thank you Eren! We tried your plugin and it works perfectly. You made our day :)

  • We also tried choosing the Drawing Canvas directly when selecting an Image to send with the Facebook Instant custom update, but it didn't work. That would have been great though

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Hi! We are using the Drawing Canvas object to compose an image that we then want to send as a custom update to facebook instant game. For this we would need the contents of the Drawing Canvas as a base64-string. (The equivalent of toDataUrl() on a canvas DOM object). Is this possible in any way? We tried with the SavedImageURL property set by the saveImage action but it seems to be only a URL and not a base64 string

    Thanks!

  • Thanks Ashley! That's great news. I saw the updates in the Facebook bug thread also, so maybe it'll be solved for real by facebook in an update soon.

  • Hi! We're currently holding off releasing on instant games because of the bug that decreases performance after the game is suspended or an ad is shown. We know this is most likely due to how the Facebook SDK handles the RAF update method and it would be best if it was fixed by them and not in the construct engine. But, as this has been going on for months now it seems they might not be interested in doing that. So is there anything we can do to workaround this issue? It's currently stopping us from releasing.

For our last release we went with Construct 2 instead, but we can't do that this time.
