  • Just my 2 cents

I can say this much after using Construct 2 for 2 years. My first attempt was what I thought to be basic, and ended up being a performance hog. After many attempts, each game got better and better in terms of performance, and the way I handled events. I have learned that there are many ways to achieve things in any game engine, and with that said... just cause you got something to work, doesn't mean it's an efficient way of doing it in relation to your game, and the game engine.

The 3D request seems pointless. C2 is a 2D game creation tool. Period. I feel like if you want 3D, than use Unity.

I will however say that I am displeased with the 3rd party exporters / wrappers. I didn't begin to use construct for mobile development, I came because 1) I'm a visual guy, and 2) saw that it specifically states "Build Once. Publish Everywhere. True multiplatform support. Build your game in Construct 2 and publish it to all these platforms." and Win/Mac/Linux is on that list. Desktop publishing was the deal breaker, for me at least... And doing so currently, is glitchy with Node, and a process for linux and Mac. I feel the request for better desktop publishing is a much needed one. I also really like the spread sheet array idea! Lighting/Shadowing as mention earlier is basically pointless. I feel the ability to establish an actual radius of how far the light/shadow is casted is needed for them to be at all useful.

Really though, everything else is great and getting better. The only REAL issue for me, is the desktop publishing / third party BS. (that isn't Scirra's fault)

Thanks, but I didn't seems to get the invite. Could you send it to this e-mail address instead:

    flatness [at] aol [dot] com

    Thanks again!

    Rick

Crap! I sent it to the wrong email. Let me get it straitened out, and resend.

  • can you guys tell me how you could get on dribbble? I´m not really sure how you can get an invite honestly

Beaverlicious you have to be invited by a dribbble member. As a member you get invites every now and again. If you have a portfolio, post a link or DM me with it, and the next time I get an extra I will keep you in mind.

  • Hey facejf,

Thanks a million for mentioning Dribble. I noticed that they had a sign-up, so I can just use that I think so you don't have to go through the trouble of doing an invite. That was super-cool of you let me know about that site. I really appreciate it!

No problem! It's invite only if you want to post, so I emailed you one.

  • what you mean

"I think "Set isClimbing to True" on the Up Arrow events should be toggle isClimbing instead."

Scratch that, my mistake. I missed it the first time, I see now that they are both set to True.

I have a feeling that it's your animation control. Try "play from current frame" For your Down arrow animation

I attached a screen of a climbing I did a while ago. May be of some help.

  • Hey Rick,

I'm a pro artist as well (Construct 2 user) and stumbled on your post. I checked out your portfolio, which to say the least is impressive. Unfortunately I'm not looking to hire an artist but I do have a Dribbble invite available. If you aren't on there already, I will gladly offer it too you to assist in maximizing your potential exposure.

  • Could be a couple of things.. I'm not 100% sure on this (I would have to see capx to test) but I would try the following:

I think "Set isClimbing to True" on the Up Arrow events should be toggle isClimbing instead.

And for Down arrow event concerning animations, instead of "play from beginning" try "play from current frame"

  • Very nice graphics! looks awesome gameplay too :3

Thank you very much!! I really dig your screens as well!

  • Screens of a unexpected personal project. I was prototyping some gun mechanics, just playing around and it turned into a game.

  • Lunarovich WOW! This is a great plugin. Thank you!!
