  • Fun little game, quite addictive really. Took me 10+ tries to complete it, my only issue was when you reach the area with many asteroids you can avoid most of them by sitting at the right/left of the screen, your not completly safe there however it made that section of the level very easy.

    Also I'd also consider reducing the amount you slow down by. I completed the level almost entirly without having the need to slow down. So maybe it dosen't need to reduce it that much? Or possibly add a bar that recharges, so you can only use 5 second bursts of the reduced speed or something.

    Just thought I'd give you my feedback, great game though. It was a challenge.

    Yeh I'm finding it hard to get a decent colour for them, even though there hard to see I've got to the end of my 5 minute level, I'll look into finding an alternative image or colour, thanks for the feedback.

  • Thanks very much, I'm putting a lot of time into this game, its also my first. I haven't really done any balancing, atall. I just set the spawns to test my timing system as I've never used it before, and also to test formation spawns.

    I think the score idea could be a good thing, only allow the object to random spawn when the score is at X amount, make it a bit more challenging. I'll attempt to add that in today, should be simple. (just activate group at score equal to...)

    Also when I got a file to work, before it plays the MP3 it freezes for a split second, anyone got any ideas?

    I'm trying to make a sound effect play/loop for when I hold down a key to fire, I have a 0.5 second audio clip I'd like to play.

  • Totaly never thought of that, makes perfect sense, well that fixes the set spawning, anyone know how I can lets say...

    5% Chance to add 1 to the varible thatll spawn the object when I destroy and object?

    This place looks good, could take a lot of searching but you'll find something usefull there. OR just google something like sprite resources, sprite sheets or something similer.

  • I created a timing system for my game, every 1000MS it subtracts 1 from the global time varible, total time length of 3 minutes.

    At a specific time I want to create an object, I set it as:

    Is global varible 'timer' equal to 140 - Create object.

    Which works however it creates as many of those objects as it can for 1 second, and I'm unable to fix it. Does anyone know a fix?

    Alternativly can someone explain how I can give each enemy a % chance to create an object upon death(There health varible = 0)

    Any help would be great

  • I diden't know that, and that looks great, I've already made my afterburner effect, but I'll definatly look into it.

    Current progress:

    • Powerups created
    • Enemy added + 1 type of basic AI
    • Explosion effects
    • Animations for afterburners
    • Weapon types

    And some other small things, I really need to work on the background to the levels, but I'm avoiding it because its going to be challenging for me.

    [Edit] Decided to try using google maps as a background, to make a realistic looking background for the game

  • No idea atall, I only completed ghost shooter, vertical shooter, and the basic platformer tutorial, sorry, I'm sure one of the more experianced guys can help you out, wait for one of them to post.

  • No problem, hope doing this gives you some of your own ideas.

  • Expand on ghost shooter, add new monsters, ammo limits etc etc. Itll teach you a lot beyond the tutorial. It helped me greatly and the best thing is, you already have lots of resources from the tutorials to use.

    Or of course, expand on another tutorial, should help give you some idea for a project of your own, Goodluck.

    Its the F15, However due to me being awefull at sketchup, the shape isen't perfect.

    newt - I did look into creating the game like this, and it bothered me, everything being so flat. especially the one sprite your always using, I understand thats the style but I guess its just not for me
