  • Thanks guys - as long as it looks ok generally then I'm happy

I'm using Firefox 11 and Mac OSX 10.6

Also Firefox 11 and the latest Chrome on Windows Vista

both Mac and Windows were about the same -- not extreme tearing, but noticeable. I've seen other platform games in the Scirra arcade running with no noticeable tear at all, so I was wondering if I'm doing something wrong?

I noticed that when I start using larger PNGs the tearing becomes much worse.

**update** I've just tried Chrome on Mac OSX10.6 and it's perfect, no tearing. So it looks like a combination of my old PC and of Firefox causing minor issues

Thanks guys! Love your work Ashley!

  • Hi folks,

I'm prototyping some basic platformer ideas, and I'm getting a fair bit of screen tearing (I think that's what it's called). Have a look here...

I'm using .pngs for all the foreground and character images -- maybe this is contributing to the problem?

Is there a way for me to improve performance in this area? I've tried Windows, Mac, Firefox and Chrome, and all pretty much the same.

    Cheers

  • Awesome -- web audio API will do everything I need by the looks.

There's so much potential to make amazing game / instrument cross-overs like Electroplankton in Construct 2

  • Awesome news :)

How will they work -- will they be predefined effects whose parameters can be controlled in Construct2, or will we be able to design effects from the ground up (with something like Pure Data or Supercollider) and incorporate them in to Construct 2 (and then control the parameters in real-time.

I understand if it's too early to say, but it's an exciting prospect!

  • No probs thanks Ashley -- that said, the whole Construct project is brilliant. Great work!

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • I'm looking to build instruments -- so runtime effects would be absolutely necessary.

What about Pure Data maybe? Patches from Pure Data can be exported as libraries I think

  • Can anyone forsee a way to implement audio effects?

Something like integrating Supercollider or VSTs ?

  • The construct classic features of positional audio ("play resource at object", "set listener", etc)...would be awesome. I know there are HTML 5 issues with audio, so hopefully this isn't out of the question.

Also, I notice occassional clicks if I have a lot of sounds being triggered. Is there a limit to how many of the same sound can play simultaneously?

  • nice work Construct folk - I'm hanging out for audio!

    Then, Max/MSP for Construct

  • Thanks rojo - that worked a treat - for anyone else who's interested, that means that using a free program like audacity now works to record the construct application also.

I made a custom recorder in 'Processing' that can launch from my Construct app.

I couldn't get your .cap to work tho - it says 'no module named ctypes'

  • Hi scidave,

any progress on this one? I'm about to finish up some instruments for release, and I'd love to be able to include a record function...

    Cheers!

    Al

  • Unfortunately I didn't know how to get the original script you posted to work...

but anyway, I'm eager to see what you come up with!

    Cheers!

  • thanks, I think that's what I'm after...

but to clarify, I'm creating an instrument in Construct - basically I'd like to have a button on the screen, so that when I press it, it records all the sounds that I'm making with the instrument. So what I need is a way for my Contruct application to record itself...

    is that possible?

Also - I will be using multiple xaudio objects in my application - and I'd like to be able to record them all simultaneously to a single stereo .wav file...

so that might make it a bit trickier...

  • anyone know?

Someone posted a python script for it in another thread, but I couldn't understand how it worked (I'm not a programmer myself)

If anyone knows how to do it with script, please also explain how to implement the script.

    Many thanks!

  • construct is brilliant! sets a new standard in tools for non-programmers like me - as far as I'm concerned anyway

looks forward to C2 - keep up the amazing work!
