  • I liked the contextual sound based on where you are standing, I don't know how to do that yet!

  • jobel That's what I originally thought, but look at the date the app was published and look at the portfolio of games: Pac-Man, Flappy Bird, Cut the Rope, 1945, Bejweled. Those are some big games, and neither Microsoft or Sony has done anything yet. I believe it also works for the Wii U.

  • Apparently you can play HTML5 games that have controller support on Xbox One and PS4 via some apps made to run them directly from the browser on the consoles.

I don't know if this works, but is it possible to have controller support for the new consoles?

This could be a cool alternative until Microsoft and Sony official support HTML5 games.

  • Sweet I'll be sure to watch!

Many Construct 2 developed games are on Steam, and one of them was even reviewed by GameInformer, the #1 video game magazine in the world.

The review was right next to the review for The Last of Us DLC, a game which won over 200 industry awards.

Construct 2 is a serious development tool. If you're looking for a huge portfolio of popular games like GameMaker, you'll have to wait because that took many years to develop.

Personally, Construct 2 is my favorite game development engine, and I've used many (Unreal Development Kit, Unreal Engine 4, Unity, GameMaker Studio, MMF2/2.5, Stencyl, GameSalad). It's the fastest prototyping tool around (try using it in a game jam) and the interface allows for a lot of customization. Scirra also has the best forum for a game engine I've ever used. Maybe you should try other lesser game engines to fully appreciate the capabilities of Construct 2.

  • ahr Ech Works, thanks!

  • Hey Construct Community,

Is it possible for the default ScrollTo behavior to only scroll horizontally? (1001 spikes camera:

  • Hey Construct Community,

Noob question here but I've never dealt with small sprites before and I'm wondering how I zoom in the view without shrinking the window size.

    The sprites are 50x50.

  • Hey Construct Community,

I was wondering if it's possible to change the image of a tiled background through events. I see there is no animation option in the tiled backgrounds, how would I go about changing the sprite?

I'm using the tiled backgrounds as platforms and I need to change the platform from stable to unstable.

  • I have no artistic capabilities, so I posted ads on a bunch of artist and pixel art forums looking for an artist. I received many replies, and now I'm working with a very talented and professional pixel artist for revenue share!

When posting, be sure to sound professional (well organized post, no spelling errors, no fluff, points are clear) and post a link to a playable alpha build with placeholder art so the artists can get an idea of what to expect.

If you do get multiple replies to an ad, be sure to keep the connection open and save their contact information in case your current artist abandons the project (50% will).

The same principles go for other departments as well (sound FX, music, etc.).

  • Minor

Thanks for the example, it works perfectly!

  • That doesn't work though because then the player's collision is tied to the sword (i.e he gets hit from behind but nothing happens because the collision is on the sword).

  • Hey Construct Community,

I'm trying to create a sword fighting system. Is there a way to detect when an enemy collides with the sword of the player sprite (Image Point 1) and not the whole player sprite?

  • Found this write up from a developer of Shovel Knight. If you haven't played it yet, I highly recommend you give it a try!
