  • Think about all of the time, energy, and money that went in to developing this software! I'm done with my test drive, and have inquired about alternative payment methods, because I do not have a pay pal account.

As far as I'm concerned I think the software is already under priced.

I have a great deal of sympathy for people who have money issues, like students, etc. However there are too many people out there who just plain think they deserve something for nothing. Pushing the program to the absolute max, to squeeze out as many action and events as possible before having to shell out a penny. Where I live you you would only have to mow 2 or 3 lawns to come up with enough money to purchase the personal license. Baby sitting, anyone ever thought of that? Its not a lot of cash folks, go mow a lawn for Ash and Tom, they deserve it!

P.S. I just inquired about alternative payment methods before starting this post, and it looks as though I've gotten a response already. Thats SERVICE!

  • That was the link that sent me to the empty pages. So I may not have signed all the way out prior, or something. It said to refresh window, but there was no refresh icon on the page. Tried refreshing with no results. I had to close all tabs open in FF, and try again to finally get back in. I guess I'm just not real clear on how it works.

  • Thank you Nimtrix. I was able to solve the issue in the chat room (Rook and Kyat solved my issue), but I could not get back into the chat room, it just kept sending me to an empty page. I guess I'm not sure how to access it every time. I appreciate you chiming in Nimtrix. I hope you were not bothered by my using your avatar in my fav features vid. I wanted to use some, but in order to decide which ones to use, I chose to use the avatars of those who helped me out during my first query's in the forum.

  • I was posted this a while back, there have been plenty of people responding to other posts following mine. I do not know if the question was too difficult to understand. Thankfully I got my answers in the chat room, but now I cannot get back into the chat room.

  • Anybody home?

  • Thank you so much..I'll try it!

  • I'm making my first car with animated wheels. They work OK, but not the way i want. I set it up for the anims to run on arrow keys pressed as it moves, yet as the car slides a bit after releasing the keys, the anims stop while the car is still slowing to a stop. I found a tutorial (or how to) on this topic somewhere on this website, but I can no longer find it. Is there some way I set up some sort of "is moving" function.

  • I'm trying to figure out a problem that I'm having with some simple functions. I'm wondering if there is a proper way to use the forum search. I ask to search for "car", however no matter which search setting I use, I get the same results...(every single word with the letters "CAR' in it. So the results wind up being too much to sort through in a reasonable amount of time. This has happened to me on many occasions, and has become very frustrating. I try to search phrases like "is moving", yet again the search comes up with every single "is" and "move" either alone, in words, but never the phrase. Am I doing something wrong?

  • My "Favorite Feature" had a difficult time deciding between so many awesome things, but there was one feature I think I totally love the most.

Its like candy to the mathematically challenged.

I'm not sure if I posted the url right so here is the text link...

  • Thank you very much!

I'm not really sure how I could have been so lame as to have missed that!

The upside of the problems I've encountered is that they finally prompted me to sign up over at dropbox to set up automatic saves, and get help here with forensics <img src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" align="middle" />.

I very much appreciate your reply!

  • Things have not been going too good for me lately with my software. Yesterday I lost several hours of work when the file somehow got corrupted. I just added a few "unpin" events, and the project that I had worked on for a couple of weeks (many hours), would open, but it froze from that point forth. I had to shut down the computer, to get out of the project. I do not know what caused it. I thought I might have gone over my event limit, and I would have been happy to strip events out. But I could not access anything in the file. The only upside is that a huge amount of the time I invested went into the art and character development, and those files are fine. So I gave up and started a whole new layout for my project.

Fine I can deal with that. But just a little while ago I was moving the layers panel and let it go before docking. Now the top of the layers panel is off my computer screen altogether. Minimizing the program on the screen does nothing to move the panel, all the other panels float but the layers panel is stuck. So after not finding any way to reset the program layout, I completely uninstalled and reinstalled construct 2. No luck after completely removing and re downloading the software, the layers panel handle is still off screen. I put many many many hours into my project for the you tube contest. Unfortunately that is all lost. I cannot even get the computer to read the file backup I burned to dvd.

If anyone can tell me how to get the default set-up back, I would totally appreciate it, right now I'm so totally bummed. Not only have I lost a ton of work, bit I'm basically locked out, without access to the layers panel.

  • My apologies Ramones, While following along with the tutorial, I got stuck at the same panel zsangerous posted a link to in his reply. I thought he got stuck at that panel also. I noticed the second part of his question, but did not realize your response was to that. I'm not exactly sure why I want to do an array any more now than because it seems to have posed so much of a challenge. I'm guessing it might be a place to perhaps store sound or image files that I may perhaps want to call or run in succession, especially perhaps for artistic purposes. I have not surrendered yet. You posted a link here to your tute and asked for feedback. My feedback was intended to give you an idea of where a lame brained beginner might run into problems. I managed to make it through Ashley's beginner tutorial...http://www.pixeloosa.com/arcade/dragonflyby02.html

This forum is awesome and so many people are so eager to help. I will try out the platform tutorial. I have started several projects that are mostly for my own learning, and despite my arrayaphobia (or being arrayically challenged), I'm very happy with what I've learned so far.

Thank you all for commenting, I'm heading over to the platform tute as Velojet has suggested.

  • Sorry Ramones, my attempt at your tutorial was a huge fail. I Made it through the first section, but could not figure out how to access the dialog box depicted in the image at the beginning of the second section on "getting values". Then after struggling with that for over a half hour, I noticed Zsangerous had problems at this step also. I was not expecting to have to read the comment posts to get through the tutorial. Then in response to him you posted another image showing a global variable, and a keyboard event, followed by an array with some parameters. How does that image...http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8367729/construct/pics/array_global.png fit in? You did not mention using keyboard events or a global variable in the first part of the tute. Sorry but I am way to lost at the moment to continue. As a beginners tutorial it needs to be a little bit more step by step specific. There seems to be gaps in the platforms that my player just cant jump over....(dorky metaphore)<img src="smileys/smiley11.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> . I'm giving up on it for now, which is something I very rarely do, I'm usually too tenacious to let something like this beat me. But for now I'm just waaaay tooo stumped.

I think I will go back to my test layout I'm learning with now, and mess around with the ifs, ands, ors, and elses, I just learned how to use.

    "Some day I will ARRAY"

  • The basic array in Nimtrixs post left me confused still. It explains the basics, but does not explain how to call the functions. I just peeked at ramones tutorial and it looks very very promising to help me, Ramones I will try out your beginners array tutorial, and keep notes of any areas where i may have questions or difficulty.

The first example posted seems to show the functions, but did not explain how to call them.

I'm saddened about the contest being restricted to youtube <img src="smileys/smiley19.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> Very sad. No i pod for me. Well no odds anyway. I don't mean to be a curmudgeon, but I dislike contests with those types of restrictions. I will never qualify for any of the tweet contests here either. I choose to maintain my freedom from twitter, facebook and other data mining sites. I have a youtube account, but do not care much for be forced to use it (prefer vimeo or my own server).

i guess I'm an anti- social net-worker. Its not that I'm anti-social, I just believe in keeping my social affairs in a more realistic realm and away from computer screen. Work...on the computer. Play.... with people (and guitars)!

  • Oh yeah Ashley, in reference to your comment about the contest I have an important question. Is the contest restricted to "you tube" posted videos, or will videos from other hosts be welcomed? Can I use my own server? Can the contest video be included in a capx? Wow imagine embedding a small video into a capx file, the video can explain things while the capx file can do a live demo. all wrapped up in one file. I would love to see someone try this, maybe with a little array demo.
