  • if you have flash effect i have made a rather simple off on switch for invincibility

put all the monsters in a group

or put your collisions with the monsters in a group.

when your character is flashing turn off the group that causes you to take damage.

If character is flashing -->> Turn off group Monster is hitting me

    and

Character on Flash end -->> Turn on group Monster is hitting me

basically as long as your flashing you cannot take damage or get hit!

    give it a try

  • Hello all, i found it very difficult to figure out how to stop a sound from looping when it starts to play and i feel completely retarded for not figuring out this simple problem.

the way i have it set up atm is

When AXE is created ->> Play "AXE WOOSH" on loop at -10DBS

When AXE is destroyed ->> STOP "AXE WOOSH"

    or

When AXE is destroyed ->> MUTE "AXE WOOSH"

When AXE is destroyed ->> MUTE "AXE WOOSH.ogg"

When AXE is destroyed ->> MUTE "AXE WOOSH.m4a"

    etc

and this does not seem to work at all...

  • oh right, i had no idea this thing existed, its basically what im looking for as well. thanks for the help!

  • Hello everyone!

im trying to create a similar light effect like that of the very first silent hill game, where the character has a flash light that is always illuminating a set area while he moves around etc, however i also want to figure out how to have stationary light points fire and wall mounted lights etc.

    any idea's?

    Thanks for reading!

  • actually what i just mentioned seems to have worked!

    thanks alot for the help!

  • woah hold on, the trigger once command? i never knew that even existed!

    so how would that work?

    player on collision with monster

       =>system trigger once = subtract 1 hp

    ??

also working on a capx give me a sec

  • Hi all!

I have a problem where if the player collides with an object that has multiples of themselves causes accumulated damage.

the way i have hp and damage dealt is a simple

if A collides with B than subtract the variable of the players hp by 1

somehow it ends up with 5 when 5 of the same monsters are in a layout even though ive only collided with just one of the monsters

  • Ah! that explains it,

it works like a charm now even with different levels, another problem i had was the character also had the scroll to feature i didn't realize that the camera would automatically lock on even without the event sheet mentioning it... at least that's what i think anyways. regardless, it works!

I think now is a good time to read up the link.

That is absolutely brilliant, Thank you both for the help!

  • hmm... i dont think i did it the way its meant to be...

do you think you can check it out and see what i did wrong compared to your example?

  • i cant get it to work...

i have even copied the method to a T however now it has just jumped the camera to rediculous lengths chopping everything and anything.

ill fiddle with it some more on another day.

  • oh very cool, ill give it a try! thanks!

  • Hello all!

how do you get the camera function in Construct to act like the camera's that are used in Castlevania, i have searched in the forums for any answers around but the only ones i could find were 3 years old.

basically what i am after is a camera function that focuses the level to stay in the middle of the screen while having the camera lock onto the walls whenever the come into view instead of continuing to scroll past them and into nothingness.

    any help would be appreciated!

  • I cracked it!!!

man what a rush! Thanks for all the help dude.
