    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Open up a sprite to see the animations

    2. Right click in animations and click Add Animation

    3. Name the animation accordingly and press enter

    4. The system selects the top animation (for some reason) click back down to the newly created animation, and click open to insert a new sprite.

    5. Right click in animations and click Add Animation

    6. Name the animation accordingly and press enter

    Observed result:

The animation name at the top of the list is changed, not the newly created one. Note that this only seems to happen on the second loop after a new sprite has been added. It's also frustrating that the top item is always selected, meaning I have to scroll down the list each time I add in a new animation.

    Expected result:

To change the correct animation name

    Operating system & service pack:

    Windows 7 64bit & SP1

    Construct 2 version:

        r136

  • I am getting so frustrated with the search function on this forum. I have an issue, so I do a search for it, and it comes up with dozens of pages. Great! But When I click on the first 10, on the first page, I find out that they are all related to Construct Classic, when what I want is Construct 2 information.

So I use the advanced search function, click on the "Construct 2 General" label so that I can search everything C2... but hold on, it isn't clicking...

I have to then search the how to's and the generals separately. Why? What if I want to do a global search? What if I want to see at the same time if someone else has made a game like mine? I have to then search the Creations sections separately as well!?

Sorry, rant over. I just wish CC had its own forum. It's already been thrown down to the bottom of the forum list. It just keeps popping up in my searches. I don't want to have to use advanced search almost every time. <img src="smileys/smiley18.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Well I'm confused then. As thehen said, Construct 2 comes with an Angry Birds example which will allow you to do it yourself. He didn't offer any suggestions.

Or am I reading this all wrong, and you just want someone to do it for you?

  • Phew, finally did it... but I had to introduce a global variable (Still can't figure out how to do local variables after all this time).

Would have been so much easier if I could just say "If Closest - do this, else, do this"

Anyone know why this isn't possible?

  • Kastas

I've tried to edit your system so that it's based on another sprite, rather than the mouse, and it appears to be having some difficulty.

    Any ideas?

*Dear me - Trying to do it using the lowest/highest variable as well, but even that doesn't allow you to invert!

  • Kastas - Very clever and simple! Thank you! I'll do this with booleans or variables :)

  • Please see the attached capx

    Not Nearest

I'd like to only have the closest object transparent, and all others full opacity.

The only options I seem to have are nearest and furthest, but I'd like to be able to invert the condition, so it says "Is not nearest".

Anyone able to tell me the steps I'm missing?

  • Thanks sqiddster & Mipey

Anybody know of an artist that can polish up my game?

  • ashesh - Define catapult. You mean the olde age catapult which rotates and throws objects, rather than an Angry birds sling-shot?

  • Try Construct 3

Thanks.I decided to go with Kickstarter because it also acts as advertising and pre ordering. Never heard of fgl before though.

You don't like the look of the graphics? That's a shame. I was quite pleased with them. Of course, if I could hire a 2D designer, that would be brilliant. I much prefer the programming side of game development.

  • I very quickly put together a basic lava version. If I spent more time on it, I could get it looking seamless as well as have splashes, etc.

Hope this helps you make a start!

  • Do you want it as just an animated sprite, or are you looking for it to ripple and be influenced by other objects like in NSMBWU?

  • I believe the recent beta of C2 will recognise sprites which are the same, and only export them once. Should be better on memory too! I'd either do what Nimtrix said, or just clone the tree object.

  • Well I've liked you on Steam Greenlight, and look forward to finally getting my hands on the game! Best of luck to you!

Oh, I recall hearing that you're recoding the game for Wii U. Is that still the case, or are you exporting it through C2?

  • Brilliant! I'll be picking it up on my Wii U! Do you have an expected release date yet?
