  • Hi,

    Let me introduce myself.

My name is Edwin, I'm from the Netherlands and I'm what you could call a self-taught creative designer.

For the last ten years, while not being able to work because of a handicap, I've taught myself to use a range of computer-programs.

In the mid 90's I went to artschool, but when I broke my back, painting became near impossible.

All of this is of no importance, but at least you've now got some background as to where this is coming from.

What can I do for you?

Hopefully a lot. I do vector-art, 3D-design, photo-manipulation and digital painting. I also make flyers and folders and small newspapers, but that won't help with game-design.

I can help with just making concepts, but could also do all design for your game. Also, having worked with Construct 2 myself, I know the limitations and possibilities Construct 2 offers.

If you just need someone to think with you about the game you're trying to make, I'm in for that too.

Why am I working for free?

Actually, I'm bored. I've been sitting at home for about ten years, just learning stuff and trying to get through the days.

I was thinking about starting as a freelance artist, but this became impossible when I got another set-back. Being active creatively and learning new things is what makes my days worthwhile and so I thought:"Why not help others?"

What are my limitations (in designing)?

One important thing: Deadlines! I never liked them and never will. I'm a fast worker, but my physical and mental state doesn't allow stress and sometimes I can't get anything done for a few days.

So If you would like me to help, make sure there are no real deadlines coming or just make it so that I have all the time I need by contacting me as early as possible.

Also don't ask for pixel art. I don't understand pixel art, I don't like pixel art and pixel art is what the word says ART, so you're way better of finding an artist who's specialized in it.

Why aren't there any examples of my work here?

The work I've done untill now isn't really suitable for a designers portfolio. I will however try and find some examples on my old computer (just got a new one and still organizing stuff).

What I can show you is not much and might scare you off, but I'll show it anyway.

    Older stuff:

    Paintings I've made

    more paintings

    some photoshop-works

First Scirra-project (Bad example, for graphics weren't finished, meant as a game-play example)

    Adventure-game-preview

If you'd like to know more about me and what I can do please contact me:

    -By responding in this thread;

    -Through PM;

-By sending an e-mail to: Info(at)littlestain.com

    Here some recent game-related art:

  • Oops, almost forgot.

    Licensing issues.

All of what I make for you can be used freely for any purposes. You don't even have to acknowledge me as the designer if you'd rather not. For me this is fun to do and having someone use my creations is enough of a reward.

  • LittleStain,

That's some really nice work, and a very kind offer, thank you!

  • Blacksmith,

Thanks for your reply, I do hope I can help some people here.

Fun part is that by helping them, they are helping me.

  • :O Looks amazing. I know who I'll be talking to when I need a bit of art done :)

  • LittleStain - I honestly wish that I could get away with helping everyone for free with my art, I really enjoy it and love learning new things, gaining experience and seeing what people can use the art for too. Sadly though I cannot 'exist' without money to live in today's world and it forces me to have to ask for money in exchange for my services (art skills) which saddens me at time...

You're doing a great thing here, I help out whenever and wherever I can afford to :P but I just hope the further through my career I get the more I am able to offer such 'free' assistance to others. I'm real passionate about it and money isn't what drives or fuels my ambition like most people nowadays.

Good Luck, I look forward to seeing your portfolio build up =]

I've been trying to figure out how to respond to your post and although I'm still not quite sure what I'm going to write, here it is:

I guess I can understand what you mean. It feels weird and maybe even a bit like cheating when you're doing something you love, helping people with it and getting money for it as well.

But I don't see anything wrong with making money with your talent and the skills you've had to learn to use your talent. I live in today's world too, but a series of unfortunate events can sometimes lead to a different life (and a great couple of books :P). People have pushed and stimulated me to go on doing what I love most "Create" and although I myself had to get over the fact that I couldn't see it as "art" anymore was glad I still had my "creations".

Knowing that "normal" work would mean a lot of obligations I wouldn't be able to meet, I've decided to just offer my services for free. Less stress, more gratitude. Luckily my family supports me in this decision seeing how it makes me feel better. Without the support I get from home I wouldn't be able to do this.

Ok, guess that's about what I wanted to tell.

Don't know and honestly don't care if it makes any sense the way i wrote it, but that's were I stand today.

    This response was fine =]

It's always good having the support of your family, I think this is a great thing that you're doing...

  • Hi,

What you're doing is really great and generous, I've sent you a PM.
