shinny sprites

has anyone seen games similar to TDoid Bounce (in the arcade, under action games)? my question is this: how do they make the sprite (like main character) have that shinny/metallic/glossy look? is there a specific sprite design software or photoshop filter?

Hmm, it could be an effect in Construct 2 if it has them yet, but otherwise I think they just edited the Sprite to save on performance.

thanks for the replay, i also agree that to save performance the sprite is edited/saved that way; i just dont know how they give sprites that clossy shine.
