Has anyone previewed their game at a convention?

Just wondering if anyone has taken their game to a gaming or comic convention and let the public play the game. Thinking of doing this sometime, the feedback could be very helpful.

Yeah we had Dethlands at SXSW and smaller conventions (I didn't attend them myself, though). Honestly I don't think they're that important. With this thing called the world wide web you can get feedback from thousands of people in a fraction of the time

I guess it's fun to see people playing your game..but there are also LP videos for that!

The most important thing with conventions is to actually MEET editors and youtubers so they know you for the next months.

I haven't attended a convention in the last months and really feel a difference with the game's launch right now.

Early access release (PAX + Gamescom) > posts on every major websites like destructoid, rock paper shotgun, gamespot, younameit.

Full release 2 days ago (out of money for conventions for months) > I got to contact sites one by one to tell them I still kind of exist.

I showed at PAX east, PAX prime, PAX aus, GDC, Denver comic con.

The main attraction in going is to meet press face-to-face but I was never really lucky in that regard.

Not yet, but I'm planning to as I'm getting close to release.

I've only previewed my game at our local public showcase of indie developers. I got about 2 hours of watching different people play Courier (and there was a line!). The feedback and communication was really valuable to me, but it obviously wasn't a big press thing.

I've attended the same local event twice now. Obviously a pretty small thing, but some of the speakers were bigger names.
